Seasons last three months… We still have a lot of time left. This patch is still early in the season. Obviously, it addresses early game issues like fury generation; fixes a lot of broken aspects which will make QoL and gameplay overall better, and did a once-over on the very underwhelming unique items we use.
My theory is they don’t want to change much in the endgame yet because they plan on buffing barbarian in stages. First stage is early game and coming tomorrow. Two weeks from now if the class is still underperforming we will get more updates to core skills. Maybe some new items. These hearts really destroy game balance and it’s easy to overcorrect / overproject nerfs because the power they give is so great.
If barbs are still doing poorly after that, then it’s probably on you ;-D Just kidding.
Remember, you don’t have to rage quit over stupid stuff. Play another class! Play another game! You aren’t paying a monthly fee for D4. You can pick up and put it down whenever you want. In a couple years I have no doubt D4 will be an amazing experience. Until then try and do what you enjoy. Don’t try and smash round things into square holes. Stuff like that.
The only thing is : many peeps that paid 120+ $ on this game were expecting somewhat a finished products, not something in between an alpha and a beta state.
Plus, the hype is betting lower and lower every day that the devs are being stale. They proved that they are able to nerfs stuff in under an hour, so they should be able to fix a ton of stuff very fast, especially with that ‘‘out-of-this-world’’ budget over that billion in gross sales they made.
Most life-long diablo players I know are already getting tired of the game. Major reasons being : Lack of end-game, bugs, and class balances. Theses are all stuff that should had been worked out before game release :S
U holding hope. I believe they r too busy to rework barb and sorc because they are working on DLC. Timing wise, if they aim to release 12-18 months post initial release, they have to get cracking now - the whole team.
Also u see blizz staff asking on forum - how much would u pay, are u willing to pay for new class etc.
Patch balance changes normally happens before a league/season is launched. Mid season balance normally is a sign that proper QA testing was not done - and in the case of barb class it definitely was not done. The S1 patch notes for barb was essentially
“We realise barbs was overperforming due to an unintended quake feature”
That’s it. There was no “buts” to follow up to compensate for the loss in power. 1.1.1 in a way was to rectify what should have been done when the season was launched.
There’s no way to win because everyone wants something different. However, it’d be nice if we could have one brokenly OP build to crush content like bonespear necro so we have a way to feel godly while they tune everything else.
Take one core skill, 8x the damage, and let us bang until there’s a major patch or expansion.
I think for today’s barb Double Swing is going to be instant success. It’s pretty good now even before the buffs (it got lowballed on the tier list). I’m pretty sick of HOTA and WW/Rend from playing D3 so it will be fun to see some new animations and stuff. I’m going to try and fit all of the fun leapquake stuff in there too for my speed build at least. For 100 push on hard maps I might have to take some other stuff (but honestly, how often do you play those maps). You can switch whenever for a modest gold fee.
Well said… Biggest problem with this game is zero endgame. Even if blizzard pulls a miracle and fixes every build, what is that gonna do?
Why did D3 last so long? leaderboards and the endless grind for paragon.
Even though the majority of players hated the paragon system it gave them
a reason to keep playing. Every single time you played your character became
stronger. In the current state all we can farm is uber uniques that have a
1/800,000 drop rate. And even worse is most builds would only use 1 or 2 of
them. So you basically farm for 100 years then you might see one and chances
are you will get one you don’t need.
So like Apache said go do something else. Get some fresh air!!! This game needs tons of work. I will be doing my 3-4 dungeons per day hoping for the golden ticket Shako or Grandfather but that is it.
Problem is they don’t need 3 months, they don’t need this ‘‘fake patch’’. They could do this in A DAY. They just wont because if people actually reach the end and realize it’s all copy paste with shi*ty design. We are waiting because they think they will make more $$$$ not because they need that much time to fix this. If you seriously believe that BULL you’re very naive…it’s say IQ 20-ish naive!
The funny thing is even with the quake bug they were certainly not overperforming, they were barely keeping up with the pack.
They “fixed” the bug but neutered the ability. The only reason barbs are remotely useable this season is because of the stupid barb heart, but when compared to everyone else we’re still dead last in every measurable metric in the game.
I give up on this dev team, they’re hopeless. Blizz sold us an alpha and now they’re laughing in our faces with the troll job that is every patch note since beta.
Oh and they nerf barriers so now rogues can dummy on you even more with the broken poison dmg they do. Which by the way hits way harder than hota bug ever did.
barbs are being gaslit by this devteam, this is the biggest troll job in blizzard history, just quit, do yourself the favour. no use getting mad over this bull**** any longer.
I wish nothing more than for blizzard, activision and every other cancerous garbage corporate money loving piece of crap company would just disappear off the face of the planet. They can take their memberberries and shove them up their ***, bunch of incompetent hacks!
I’m not holding out hope, they have done a terrible job with the class since launch. This is the first patch that might be a positive, but every other one has reduced the amount of fun and prolonged the tedium. Down to playing a half hour every couple days and even that isn’t very rewarding.
Im just hoping they follow through on their word. They claimed they will be reworking a lot of the Sorc and Barb with the focus on the Sorc first. And yet they do a broad sweep over all the classes to make them not feel “left out”. So Sorc is done or at least at the finishing touches for the rework. They changed quite a bit going all the way from skills, to items, to paragon. So I am REALLY hoping that what we got for Barbs here isn’t all they were working on as a “FOCUSED” effort on both Sorc and Barb and all that happened so far has been a simple band-aid temporarily whilst they worked on sorc.
From what I have seen so far though, they haven’t really done anything to Barbs at all. The generation is nice but all builds still pretty much need all shouts and/or have absurd resource costs to most if not all skills that use resource. So like I said the generation is fine but the cost is just too high for the generation to matter. We are still using any of our skills roughly for 3-5 times or for 3-5 seconds and completely out of resource thereafter.
On a different note most of the skills are too clunky and hardly seemless to use so buffing their damage isn’t going to help at all. We are still getting hit a ton for the same time span so single target skills are currently not viable and a point of interest if they decide to work on gameplay fluidity. Rupture and Upheaval with their respective Uniques havent really changed either. Bleeds are dreadful in terms of scaling and they can’t crit so whats the point of replacing the Cooldown on the Fields of Crimson for Crit Damage. I’m aware its a stat vs Bleed beign an effect but if your using Fields at all in the first place then… your priority is to bleed a target right? So the point of having Crit again? Anyway the Hellhammer… Increased damage and the Burn duration increased. I’m guessing the increase in damage is on the weapon and not on the Burning damage that Hellhammer gives to upheaval. So overall the “Buff” is actually a nerf to Hellhammer. Say the burn does 1000 damage. We were doing 333 damage per second, now we are doing 250 damage per second since the duration was increased… Not to mention the passive on Upheaval where there is a chance to stun a target for 2 seconds. With 4 seconds now they actually have a chance to get out of the effect before its over whereas before they probably couldnt. Then there is Battle Trance… oh boy where to start with this one. Cooldown is nice but you’re basic attacking anyways to gain the effect so… Then the attack speed bonus, its great that its buffed but the issue is in the application of that bonus. Its only core skills that can really make use of it and going back to the first issue mentioned about resource costs… The attack speed doesnt add any value. To top it off Whirlwind is the only one that can effectively use it but can anyone tell me a single player that uses whirlwind as their main damage source, that DOESN’T use the Dire Whirlwind Aspect? Battle Trance requires all 5 stacks of Frenzy to activate the attack speed buff and that buff lasts for only 3 seconds. It takes Whirlwind 3 seconds to ramp up its Dire Whirlwind. The effective use case of Battle Trance then is literally at zero…
I don’t know about anyone else but I for one am seriously hoping this isn’t all that they plan on doing for Barbs in their “focused” effort to work with the class to make it better and that the focus is simply shifting from Sorcs now after this patch to the Barbs.
The lowest barber I have is level 50, as of writing my new barb is 45, so haven’t tried it yet with that. Buuuuuut, very fun though. Am I crazy to think that you should be able to double swing the 2handed weapons? lol I guess I am. The 1hers are a nice change of pace however. Fun playstyle, very aggressive. Will be fun once I get all the stuff for it.
Bad news fella. Youre wrong. Next patch we’ll get nerfed again without any compensating buffs. Theyll do it secret like, for instance theyll nerf barber —which every end game barbarian relies on. Or theyll “fix a bug” that obliterates any numbers barbs have that compare to other classes. Then say theyll say its k bc uniques useless uniques are going to be slightly improved again. Instead of uniques with actually helpful stats that scale we’ll get very tiny number increases to the existing total shyt stats. Blizzard is extremely consistent and predictable.
When your class is supposed to be the mule class, nerfing it does not matter as you will still have the same amount of inventory space. Enjoy being a mule, barb mains
Well… I sure hope that they do not do permanent balancing for all classes based on season 1 mechanics… seasons can be whacky and over powered… it’s a play ground after all…
What matters is that the Eternal Realm classes are inline with each other… more or less, does not have to be perfect. Your opinion can vary of course.
Dunno if you all have tried but double swing bleed is beyond amazing. They fixed a bleeding zerkee aspect and its crazy.
Im lvling up faster than my rogue without barber. 50 now in t3 crushing it.
