My barbarian is level 36 and several of my weapons are at expertise 10 and all the rest are climbing. Except for my two handed sword which is still at 0. Do I have to do something special to get it to climb? The rest climb automatically. I do have a two handed great sword.
You can set which weapon to use on your abilities.
Or just put rend on your bars and start hitting with with that spell.
You have to assign a skill to 2h sword and kill enemies with that skill.

I think you can just beat the combat dummy over and over, and it works too.
I did a variation of that. I went to the dummy, unloaded all weapons except the sword. It showed I had an attack power of 0, so I hit the dummy a lot. Eventually my attack power became 171 and the sword had an expertise of 1. So now I set my expertise to two hand sword and will see what happens when I go back to the game.
No need to worry about it. When you finally use a 2-handed sword against high-level content, it’ll level up to max in a couple of dungeons, like 10 minutes.
