i forgot these damn things still existed! i have like 3400 hours played in d4 and this is only the 4th one i encountered. If these things are as rare as they are, why not make them drop a mythic guaranteed? make them actually exciting to find and not a complete waste of your time by rewarding you with the same old garbage. Why would you have something this rare in a game and not at least do something special with it? with as worthless as they are right now, why even keep them in the game?

Found one in a NMD a couple seasons ago. The only one I ever found and I have also put many hours in the game since day one.
Had the exact same reaction as you when I come to loot those chests contain.

Loot on par with something so rare would have taken thought and effort which is something we have yet to see from the D4 team. It is the typical minimal effort attitude I hope just departed.
For all we know it was part of the original code they copy/pasted and they had no idea they existed or were part of the game.
I know which one I would bet on.

I managed to find one a few weeks ago - been playing since launch and this was the first 1 i have ever found
Also my first time hearing about these chests. Nobody talks about them though. It must be a secret to most players.
Think I’ve encountered four, though none for a couple of seasons. Couldn’t easily find all the clues required to open the last two, so being aware of their lack of any reward I just left them locked and moved on.
Another opportunity missed or just abandoned by Blizzard, shocking. Probably the possibility of fun for somebody playing that deterred them.
Yeah… It’s the same thing with Lilith and Andariel. Why make such a challenging boss fight so unrewarding
Nobody talks about the chests because of the unrewarding experience like nearly everything in this game.

First one tonight after 12 seasons. Extremely rare. Interesting but reward was less than regular resplendent chest.
Legends say when you open up your 666th mutterlock chest there will be a
[Treasure Goblin Collector Pet] inside

Maybe the day will come to surprise us with a precious collector pet ingame
But… i have my own irl “collector pet” now. I was lying in the sun and an exhausted 
was crawling towards my toes. I gently guided her on a fresh handkerchief and carried her over into a more shady spot. Mixed some water with sugar and now the pet can feast
It already left me alone… 
Yeah, it’s nice to have something so rare. I was pretty excited to find it the first time. It was a fun and unique moment.
Having said that… even though I’ve only found 2 in total… the 2nd time, I just walked right past it, knowing it was a pointless waste of time. Pretty disappointing. There needs to be at least some kind of payoff to keep it interesting.
It doesn’t have to be player power, maybe it could drop from the pool of cosmetics you haven’t collected yet (I still haven’t collected all of the mounts and mount armors, why not add those in there?)
