MTX Prices Are Too High

You have some nice skins in there, but I can’t bring myself to pay $25-$30 for a single bundle; I could buy a whole other game for that much. You’d probably get a helluva lot more sales if everything was cut by at least 60%.

they are on par with their competitors. so they really arent too high. if you take in to account competitors selling individual pieces for $5-$10, the bundles offered are often cheaper.

It’s just math.

If they have a MTX for 100$ and 100 people buys it, thats 10 000$.
If they lowered that mtx to 50$ would 200 buy it instead equaling 10 000$?

Only Blizzard knows. And also afaik… the lower the price for each purchase the less Blizzard gets to take home as a %.

For example if they loose 5$ for every purchase, so selling something for 10$ they will only get 50% of the purchase.
While selling something for 500$ and they loose 5$ from that then that is only 1% that they loose.
(I’m not sure about this, but i remember this has something to do with it and a reason why it will be expensive)

I wouldn’t be half as annoyed if there were comparable in-game options, but the majority of stuff you can get for just playing the game is OK at best.

Pricing wise, yeah it’s a lot but sadly nothing I haven’t seen before (and nowhere near as insane as some Gacha games)

Until Congress actually passes a law banning these fake, premium currencies in games (probably never happening because lobbyists) expect it to only get worse, not better.

Except their competitor allows you to use any of those sets on all classes. Blizzard doesn’t, making these prices absolutely absurd.

Here’s the thing though - you’re not actually buying the skins.

You’re paying for the premium currency, the cosmetics are just little bonuses attached as a bundle. It’s all psychological marketing trickery that is proven to work and right in line with the predatory nature of microtransactions.

the prices are set at exactly where the market dictates them to be. people with doctorates on these matters set the pricing exactly where it should be to make the most amount of money. so no the prices arent absurd. if you want to buy a cosmetic you will, if not that is fine too. but the prices arent going to change so everyone can get pretty cosmetics. they will only change if it is determined that blizzard would make more money if they changed. so dont expect any change

This is really the kicker for me. The prices are same as competitors but only usable by 1 class instead of on all. This is why i will never buy a skin in the shop. Battlepass mtx is for all classes.

Activision didn’t get to be the most profitable publisher in the industry by playing nice.

Just saying. They likely have an entire division or two dedicated to maximizing this garbage because they know damn well there are enough simps and whales out there to support it and you can’t blame them for taking advantage of that.

Vote with your wallet, about all we can do at this point.

Its quite funny, this topic comes up every time blizzard actually release costumes that people want.

When they have a below average releases its just the usual “burn blizzard monetization”.

Fair but still funny. Just buy one.

In Guild Wars 2 you can farm monsters/play the auction house for gold and exchange it for shop currency.

Players that want to use the latest shop items instantly just buy it for real money. All other players farm for the gold and buy it later w/o spending real money. The cool thing is. You always have a goal to grind for.

Look, you have a point. This really spendy cat has been out of it’s velvet bag for a long time though, in many games. Fortunately, you have control over what you choose to throw money at.

Just because psychologists had a finger in setting the prices, doesn’t make it any less absurd.
A predatory in-game shop in a full-priced game is absurd for any grown-up with some intelligence between their ears.
This was out of the question 20 years ago, but I guess the spoiled “boomer-gen” thinks this insanely greedy practice is ok.

I don’t really care anymore, I’m too old and too tired of human ignorance, stupidity and most of all greed and shortsightedness. However I wouldn’t mind if they slashed the prices as I think some of the sets are quite beautiful.

The only thing D4’s shop accomplished is that I got myself the second tier of PoE’s most recent supporter pack.

As if I would waste the lil money I have for games to get some absurd one character only set from a multi billion dollar company that can’t get a grip.

It’s a shame tho. Since one or two of these sets are quite nice. I would buy them for 10 bucks tops.

in their shop there’s three badly thought things in my opinion :

  1. they are overpriced
  2. they cannot be bought bundle-less (so you are forced to buy a whole bundle you might not want)
  3. they are specific to a class despite this ridiculous pricing (even emote and backpack…which is ridiculous)

but, i might sound crazy but i’am happy and relieved that they are like this because i won’t, even remotely, want to or even think about spending a dime in anything from the shop aside of the battle-pass (which considering it gives 700 plat back : 3€ every 3 months is a kinda good deal)

I share the same sentiments.

However, like someone else has mentioned, many other games have cosmetics at similar price points.
The fact that this kind of pricing has persisted for such a long period suggests that there are sufficient people buying and there is currently no motivation or reason for the companies to lower the price as it is working out for them.

I guess they’ve made it easy for me. The prices are not even remotely close to being acceptable so there is no struggle for me in deciding whether to buy them or not.

Though I have to say it does puzzle me why the prices are working for a segment of the population. For me, it’s not a question of whether I can afford it but more on the value I am getting at that price.

Value is highly subjective to each individual so kudos to those who find them good value. I certainly do not.

As a last note, it is also not my place to dictate to others what good value is so live and let live I guess.

Remember before launch when they said the best looking gear wouldn’t come from the shop? Look how that ended up. The earnable gear in game looks like total trash next to the cash shop sets.

sad, there is still people playing this sh1t

I think MTX prices aren’t high enough. People dumb enough to support this game deserve to be milked. I heckin love visiting these forums and reading fanboys justification on why d4 is an amazing game

They’re not even microtransactions anymore.

$65 USD? That is just shy of a full game. The reason they’re called microtransactions in the first place is because they’re purposely small, so “customers” (more like victims) don’t notice until after they’ve paid $1-$3 like 15 times or more and the bill creeps up on them.

It’s death by a thousand paper cuts.
