Mouse&Keyboard just why?

Never happened for the last 2 years, then I played Diablo for a week, left analog is broken. Keeps pulling itself to left. It happened on my friends controller as well in Diablo.
May be it’s just coincidence but why you insist on not giving the choice how a player wants to play? It’s a PC game, and as a sorceress I’m having hard time aiming. I saw lots of people asking for this since day 1. Are we asking too much?

It should allow choice. Call of Duty now finally allows you to use a mouse and keyboard, and Overwatch has some, so we know they know how to add it. And the PC version can use a controller.

Even if 99% of console users still stick to gamepad, that doesn’t mean everyone wants to.

So, I have yet to personally confirm this, but a friend of mine who plays all the time says he uses his mouse and keyboard to play Diablo 4 on his PS5. You have to first have them hooked up as peripherals to the PS5, then I guess the game provides the option to switch just like it does on PC whenever it detects a controller. How quickly he types in chat alone to me is proof even if I had any reason to not believe him.

Again, not verified, but I wanted to pass this along because for the longest, I had the assumption that this was not an option as well and was asking for it.

Something else must be needed. I just tried again. The PlayStation detected them (it shows the icons on the home screen). Mouse & Keyboard work fine in Call of Duty, but when I started up Diablo 4, it’s not recognizing them.

On Xbox, you can use the keyboard to type, but that is all. You still have to bring up the chat box with the gamepad and send the message with the gamepad.

For chat purposes, after you open the chat then yes you can write with keyboard but game itself cannot.

Ok thanks for confirming. That explains a lot.

And yeah there is 100% more control with the mouse in some cases like especially targeted attacks or movement abilities like Soar and Teleport.

To be fair, there are also aspects of the controller that can be superior, like with certain things that are auto-targeted with controller that aren’t things that need to be specified but MKB requires still mousing over each thing to do, such as picking up items. Yet MKB can sometimes win that battle if say all the items are next to something else that it’s trying to prioritize you to click on and not letting you select any items, or if you’re trying to choose just one.

Movement and general control/skills imo feel better on controller while anything specific including UI/inventory is far better on MKB. So ultimately I still think MKB wins the battle.

The nice thing about PC is you can actively have both MKB and Controller, and the game seamlessly switches btwn the two based on the most recent input, so you can easily switch back and forth as desired.

As a primary PS5 player, it’s sad to always feel like PC version is better at least from a control standpoint (overall).

The fact that PC can switch with zero issue means they could put it on console and just don’t want to.

+1 here

I am no expert but in my opinion this game by design is not controller friendly. The only class I played so far which could qualify as controller friendly is the minion-necro. All the others I have played so far are just too much. The skill rotations and combat is just too complex for controller to be used efficiently, I tend to get finger strain from playing rouge or sorc after an hour. Maybe it is just me… :man_shrugging:

Saw somebody playing sorc with numlock trick to autocast primary skill, omg so cool. I tried rearranging my buttons to I can keep one holding down casting my Orbs which works, I could chug potion, cast ultimate, etc fine at the same time but the hero is stationary while main skill is active  the stick only changes the facing for the spell cast.

I mean every Diablo game has been made for PC controls first since the first 2 games never even released on console. D3 was the first to be built with consoles somewhat in mind, but it is a totally different play experience from PC. You do half the damage, get half the monster density, massacre bonuses work differently, etc.

  • ONE to keep this alive

Your controller left stick started pulling straight left? Strange, so did mine! I don’t know if it’s related to this game in particular, though.

So happy to see in the roadmap for the next year that in July we are getting console M&K support. So the asking for it for the past 2 years has paid off.

Yes that’s pretty cool. I already use a keyboard for chat because I have cross play turned on. I may try a mouse for funsies.
