Mouse polling rate causing dropped frames

My system is running an i9 7900X, RTX 3080ti, 32GB of RAM, Samsung 960
Pro SSD.

I have seen the fps drop before in PUBG and can easily replicate the issue. I run a Logitech G502 Hero mouse with a 1000 polling rate. In a party, my frames go down to about 2-3fps when mousing over characters on the social screen if it shows more than just me. I also notice hitching and fps drops randomly while playing every couple of minutes that cause the mouse to jump while the game freezes and/or lags. Same issue with a 500 polling rate, but when going to a 250 polling rate all the problems disappear and the game runs perfectly smooth. Considering how many people have 500-1000 polling rate mice and being an odd thing to check for lag issues, this could be a cause of many peoples issues with fps lag.

I actually purchased a new G502 just in case (needed a new one anyway) and reinstalled Logitech Ghub and neither fixed the issue. I tested with a spare basic junk mouse and no problems. Not sure if this issue is specific to Logitech mice, Ghub, or the polling rate in general.

Try disabling Nvidia Reflex.

But its possible the game may be ignoring/mis-reading high polling rates, as they normally aren’t as important in a game like this, vs something like Overwatch or other FPS games.

Interesting theory though.

Try removing all the mouse enhanced software (Ghub, etc). Use the dumb Windows drivers and see what happens. I haven’t had any issues with my EVGA X17, nor my Razor Basilisk V2, or the old Logitech Performance MX that I have had nearly 15 years.

I just disabled Reflex and will see how that works when I can jump into a party. The social screen was always a problem. I’ll update a little later on after testing with the feature off and in a party.

This was my issue precisely. I for the love of me couldn’t figure it out!

I went through the typical troubleshooting steps that are all over Reddit and these forums as well. One thing I began to notice though subtle if you’re not keen is that if you are alt tabbed/even in the game, if you rapidly move your mouse around the game screen while the window is in/out of focus, dependent on your mouse polling rate (Mine is 1000/1ms) it causes severe stuttering of the game. If you click and hold your mouse to move your character around, it’s fine but as soon as you let go and just move it around the screen, you can see animations/movements stutter. Bump the polling rate down while you’re still in the game, I tried 500 and 250, 250 was almost flawless.
