Mount Controls are Very Clunky

Mounting up in diablo 4 doesn’t feel satisfying at all, the fact you have to place your cursor at the edge of the screen just for it to go fast is really weird. It works sort of ok when you are going in all direction but South, where you have place your curser near your ability bar!

Dismount ability cooldown is little long, and quite frankly the whole dismount ability is sort of useless, it looks cool, but mostly useless.

Mount, and dismount cooldowns are bit long, it is find if you get knocked out, 30 seconds makes sense, but how about I run for a second, and low and behold I have to dismount to climb, duck or whatever!

Also doesn’t make sense you get blocked by a bone barricade with two skeleton, or get body blocked by a bear while spurring!

Such a weird design decision that doesn’t make sense, I hope this gets changed soon

I agree with everything you just said and I’ll add that the general maneuverability is clunky aswell.
Mobs blocking the way, clunky to pick up items with and when you want to go into a little indent of the map to click an altar or mining node etc the mount gets stuck.

Everything you said PLUS the fact that there are often rocks / small objects on corners where you need to turn so you can get stuck there which drives me completely nuts, ESPECIALLY with timed events like the World Boss fights or Helltide (which should not be timed / FOMO abusing the way they are which is extremely stressful and toxic gamedesign, but that’s another topic).

I agree with everything you noted and I would like to add that you should be able to instantly dismount if you wish to fight mobs. Currently, you have to hit the dismont button and wait to dismount ( a few seconds) is not optimal.

I play on PC so can only explain the situation there:

You can dismount via rightclick at any time, it takes a moment and your character then dismounts right where it stands.
If you have been riding for a few seconds the skill on button 1 (I think, number key 1 or 2 it is) becomes active - this is used for an “attack dismount” which, when pressed, makes your character leap forwards off the mount and do a slam/spear aoe attack on the ground in front instantly.

So yeah, right now you have two ways to dismount already.

Is really weird and really significative of a dev team being mostly console players, who seems that don’t have that issue.

Another evidence of the loss of importance of their longtime fans.

I wont go that far, also got to remember that Diablo was a console game first if you look into the history of Diablo 1.

Also one very important thing to note that, while controlling the mount with a controller is a lot less clunky, it is a lot slower too, significantly actually.

You see that trick where we place the cursor at the edge of the screen and keep chaining Spurs, how lighting fast we can go? on Console/Controller you cant do that, you can chain all the spurs and still be way behind a keyboard and mouse player.

So it is not that they are losing touch with fanbase, it is just over all clunky. Also try to give benefit of the doubt first, it is a big game and a lot of effort, I’m sure a lot will be fixed in time.
