So… Mortacrux, a Unique dagger for the Necro. When using a corpse skill, has a chance to summon a simulacrum that will (eventually) explode for shadow damage. Seems like a great idea, that they botched the execution of if it goes to live as is. This is for 2 reasons. 1, the simulacrums do not explode until they “die” (and count as a summoned minion until then ruining the stand alone passive) and 2, the damage from this, and the buffs the dagger gives are to MACABRE skills, not corpse skills. So there is -10 synergy with any build you would want to do. Shadow builds are already on the way out with the nerfs to Wither and Blighted aspect, Minion Builds are on the rise but would never use this, and Bonespirit (the only actual offensive Macabre skill) does not reliably consume corpses outside of corpse tendrils as part of its loop so would never proc the effect anyway. Now, these are the problems with it. How can we fix it? Change the stats on it to be corpse skill related is the easiest. Or have it change corpse skills into Macabre skills (though this is much tougher). Also, have the Simulacrum pulse lesser explosions over their life times (1/sec or something)… which would make them healing up from blood orbs gain value. Oh did I mention blood orbs heal the simulacrums, further delaying their damage (Yes, i realize this is a niche interaction with corpse skills, and using the chance to spawn blood orbs power, but thought it was ridiculous). Sorry for the rant, but thought it was kind of needed.
Except it is for blood surge x) Cruor’s consumes all corpses there is. And with the +5 hewed flesh you are gonna get a lot of corpses, from the siphon and also from the novas when you consume all the corpses with cruor. The delay is, that when you use deathspeaker aswell the simulcarums will cast the mininovas, which can also proc more corpses with hewed flesh. Meaning more simulacrums aswell. You will have lots of corpses. Yes the simulcarum dmg is shadow, but you can socket abyssal glyph in wither board. But there isn’t even one physical dmg node in any board anyway. Blood relies solely in overpower, so it doesn’t matter that the simul dmg is shadow. What matters, is that they are minions and can overpower.
