Mobs HP and difficulty with group!? Distance?

I am curious do mobs get more hp as soon as you join a group!?

I need to know if I am in a group no matter where on the map I am, are mobs harder or are they only harder when my teammates are around!?

So I can decide if I want to do solo stuff to better ungroup and regroup later again!?

Mobs get a lot more HP and damage when you are grouped. Stronghold bosses can one shot you in a cast in a group wjere in solo it would take half or 1/3 your health.

However, some encounters are easier in a group.

Like the Butcher, since you can kite in a circle while the teammates damage him. If you run solo, you have to be very well geared to be able to tank his autos and even then you’ll have to dodge out and recover.

It definitely feels slower to clear in a group, which I guess is why they gave it a bonus xp. It does remove the inconvenience of dealing with Butcher in lower levels while undergeared.

ok sure! Thanks for that, but I was rather asking about how close to my teammates have to be to take the effect or does it not matter!?

Like for instance me doing a dungeon alone but in a group and my teammate is like on the other side of the map!?

Mobs still harder and more hp?

Clearing in a group was always faster for me, unless the group was braindead/unhelpful. Solo dungeons usually take 10-15 minutes, groups of 2-3 cut that down to 7-12 minutes. It’s just faster when you start alternating CDs to blow up elite packs.

However, not all “groups” are helpful. This morning was the first time I saw that occur. 3 people came near me (they were grouped, and stood near each other) during an open world event. They did absolutely nothing but stand there. It took me forever to kill the objectives, and of course, I failed the Mastery. And then, the 3 came to loot the sad amount of Obols I got. I’d even venture to guess they were bots.

It is proximity based. If no allies are within your screen, the mobs don’t scale up. Exceptions are dungeons if someone is withing it alongside you and public eevents with nearby players in the open world.
