The team also acknowledged that stash limitations are still one of the biggest frustrations in the game right now. When asked about stash upgrades, the devs simply said: “Stay tuned.”
That short answer might sound familiar and maybe even a little disappointing at first, but combined with the confirmed loot filter progress, it is a strong sign that stash improvements are in active development too.
But I doubt that will ever happen. seems the devs (and some players heh) want us to be either recycle freaks or, more likely, litter bugs. Can’t be a hoarder in this one.
Well, there should be reasonable amount of stash to handle the various modes, we just don’t have it.
I don’t think we should be able to hoard / pathologically, but we should be able to “collect” enough gear to be able to play a few builds across all the classes (especially the eternal folks - soft/hardcore).
So the game is P2W against who else, exactly? You aren’t paying to have an advantage over anyone because you aren’t competing against anyone. I guess when leaderboards leave beta then maybe there is an argument for P2W, but I cant think of any game franchise that continues to give power to the player base that doesnt buy xpacs.
It would be like me complaining about P2W in WoW because I cant progress past level 60 because i refuse to buy xpacs.
You’ll have to excuse that poster. They believe anytime you pay for a product it’s P2W. If I pay for a loaf of bread I’m paying to win by staying alive since I can now eat the bread.
I mean, following your analogy, college is P2W sometimes. Eating is P2W. Having a mortgage? P2W. Man, I am really paying to win in life. Doesnt feel like winning lol
I associate P2W as paying to have an advantage over others in PVE or PVP content and the goal of a business is to sell stuff. If they gate some power behind an xpac, then you just have to buy the xpac.
If leadersboards are gated behind xpac access, then there really is zero case to be made for P2W. I guess PVP on eternal may be another case if you havent bought VOH and you play against someone who does have it, but at what point are businesses mandated to give you power upgrades for your feelings?
For me it’s paying for any advantage over another player who has access to the same content. Doesn’t mean you couldn’t get the same advantages over time, but typically they’re heavily time gated in games such as those.
Paying for an expansion, which includes additional content, isn’t paying for an advantage over some one else, as they won’t have access to the additional content without it. Would be like saying I’m paying to win when I buy the game, doesn’t make any sense to me.
BTW… the runes are still exclusive to the expansion, right?
With the inclusion of the Tower, a competitive mode, doesn’t that transform the expansion (VoH) into a purchase that gives you an advantage in a competitive mode?
I think that’s one of the most demanding definitions of pay-to-win: paying to have an advantage in competitive. Diablo 4 didn’t have a competitive mode before, so that wasn’t a definition that fit D4 (until now).
The only more demanding one I’ve heard of is Asmongold’s definition, where it’s only pay-to-win if you can spend money infinitely. According to this definition, D4 is not P2W (yet?).
Then there’s also the question of what constitutes PVP. A ranking system like the Tower isn’t “direct combat” PVP, despite being a competitive mode, so by certain definitions, it might not be considered P2W even if you win in the ranking.
Then there’s the issue of the rewards… we still don’t know what the tower rewards will be, and that could also affect many people’s definitions.
Life do kinda be P2W though… Just most of us are playing a survival game and billionaires are playing an 4X extraction game while messing up the player economy in our survival game
So blizz should give you things for free? Just stop being poor and buy the xpac. I mean, i guess in a perfect world, blizz wouldnt charge for anything they make, but thats not the current situation.
