To all “I’m a 145yo dad of 54 kids and I have no time to play” folks.
No, you won’t have to spend the same amount of time leveling up seasonal character as you did with your current character.
Seasons in aRPGs are designed with a lot of mechanics to smooth out the leveling process while still be challenging for the fans.
In Diablo 4:
- You don’t have to replay campaign once you’ve completed it. If just one character of yours complete campaign now - that’s it. You don’t have to do it again once seasons start.
- Your horse will be avilable for you at lvl 1. So your seasonal character will have a horse from the get-go
- FREE battlepass will have EXP boosters. That will play a BIG role in speeding up leveling process. Now, you’re leveling “oldschool” way but battlepass boosters will speed up the process A LOT
- Seasonal machanics are usually overpowered (like special items in D3 or weapon skill trees in Path of Exile) so most likely you’ll have more activities that will reward EXP - Further improving leveling process.
- Battle pass DOESN’T GO UP TO LEVEL 100!!! Just because there is level 100 doesn’t mean you HAVE to reach it. Battlepass, and that’s confirmed by Blizzard, is aimed towards casual players so they can complete it in reasonable amount of time.
- Challengind endgame content like pinnacle boss SHOULD be challenging. Just because you want everything on a silver platter doesn’t mean you SHOULD get it this way. It’s okay not to kill uber lilith each season;]
Anyway - Those are just some posts to clear up some of the confusion surrounding seasons. Hope it helps

I’m not one of the whiner’s but this still sounds boring. However, I’ve gotten what I want out of the game. When I get bored with it, probably before season one, it’ll still be the best Diablo of all of them in my mind. After I quit, call me when there’s more story and I’ll come play.

So… basically you get to level from 1-whatever level again. But this time you don’t even get a story to help you along the grind?
Well at least you’ll do it 20% faster than before with boosts
It isn’t meant for high level? So it isn’t end game?
What is the point of this?
Another misconception.
-
Story quests in aRPGs don’t give enough EXP anyway to really speed up leveling.
Hell, even sidequests are WAY more important because they not only give highter EXP pool but also renown and crafting materials.
-
You CAN play campaign again with your seasonal character. Just like in D3. It’s just that now, you’ll have an option to skip it.
-
No, FREE battlepass is there to give you some rewards along the way and speed up leveling so you can reach endgame faster. (So around lvl 50)
-
Premium battlepass is for cosmetics only
What’s the point of what? Playing games? I donno. Fun I guess?

Yeah, because the reward for sure isn’t exp, end game, or items.
So, fun I guess?
Because leveling up slowly in Diablo IV was so fun…

I literally made a page of points that you won’t have to spend the same amount of time leveling as you did now… oO
Not to mention - There’s eternal realm. All your non-seasonal characters will still be there so you can play there as much as you want.
Anyway - Don’t like it. Don’t play aRPGs You brought the game that, since 2019 said it’s gonna have seasons and now you don’t like it… Wow.

Well, I know blizzard appreciates all you veteran ARPG players telling their new customers to not buy their products
Very well written! Hopefully much of this crying will die down when people actually TRY seasons.
I didn’t quite understand them until i tried one in d2r and they’re quite fun! Very excited to see what season 1 brings!

Then stop trying to mess with their stuff! Not rocket science here.
IF they are changing entire map we may try seasons, but if the main map is the same, there is very minor interest to farm the same thing over and over again. And I doubt they will change the map every season
Changing the map?? That WONT ever happen lol
Theyll extend the map with expansions. But re-designing the world every 3 months… cawww
Would be exciting though

“we may try seasons” - We? Who are ‘we’? Are you one of those guys who takes up on himself to speak for entire community?
Tell me - If you read a book and don’t like it, do you demand from the author to change it?
Anyway - GGG (PoE devs), Blizzard, Undecember devs, Torchlight Infinite devs, Escape from Tarkov devs (Tarkov also wipes every couple of months) etc. ALL confirmed that the biggest spikes in player count are around the first month or so, of new season so… Sorry to break your bubble but vast majority of players who are going to stick with aRPGs are folks who really enjoy seasonal content and seasonal resets.
Just because you’re new and you don’t like it doesnt change the fact it is going to be this way.

I think maybe this Time around, the player base may actually get blizzard to change how seasons work… not in season 1, but afterwards when they lose millions of players.
They’ll revisit these threads and see everyone who said they didn’t want to do it…
We didn’t lie.
We really don’t want to level characters again.
If you’ll note everyone defending seasonal resets say they are a PoE or D3 veteran.
But they never tell you D3 only has 15,000 max players and PoE caps out at 100,000…
There’s a reason for that.

PoE caps at what, sorry?
" On April 7, the PC release date for Crucible, Path of Exile’s Steam stats increased tenfold (or nine-and-a-half-fold), surging from 23,324 at 9am PST / 12pm EST / 5pm BST / 6pm CEST to 211,637 when Crucible launched. While the hype has died down a little, the stats sit at 96,189 at the time of writing, over four times April’s base peak.
The game also hit a new record for concurrent players, dwarfing their original stats of 50,000 with an impressive 321,180 concurrents. As I said before, even with the hype dying off the stats are still up on the original record by 46,189"
And that’s over a dacade after game release.
Anyway - “we”. Thankfuly - You’re just egomaniac who thinks he speaks for some community.
Feel free to return to this thread in a year or two. I don’t even have to prove you wrong. Time will do it for me.
LMAO!
I just read that line in a thread, damn that was funny!

Omg!! They released a season and it peaked at 200,000 players?!?! Out of two hundred million downloads?
That’s amazing!!!
I know blizzard really wants that level of success
The game may lose millions of players who did not understand what a Diablo game is (grind, RNG drop, season, etc).
Too bad for them but thanks for their money

Seasons in D3 typically have short cuts to reduce levelling and gearing time. That makes releveling far less painful. I have played at least 20 D3 seasons.
The extent of grind to get your character to be half decent in D4 is much, much more than in D3. That is why I and others are complaining about D4 seasons in its current iteration.
Do you think that it will be fun to get 2,000 renown in each of the 5 regions in seasons?

Blizzard will do whatever makes them the most money. They aren’t the blizzard from before. They are owned by activision now.
So posting your opinion may help.
