I found that being a summoners with minions, the butcher in NM with 4+ level is very hard to take down Vs bonespear alone. He has huge shield that refreshes in seconds. He has roar that does exploding damage to warriors, and his attack speed on a rampage is faster than I can blink. What do you guy do about this ?
I think…
I have a Summoner/Bone Spear Necro with Mendeln, and Butcher drops like a sack of bricks in NMD 80-85. Thanks for the free loot!
But I haven’t seen him in 2 days, pretty sure he figured out he was a loot pinata for me and is dodging the fight.
You are probably 95+. I am still in sub 90. What is your main glyph ?
lol I’m 82.
Exploit hit 16 yesterday, working on Amplify I think. When Amplify hits 15, I pick up some Dex/Willpower nodes that will allow me to nab some other secondary Glyph bonuses.
Bone Spear hits for 300k, Mendeln procs are 400k-500k. Bone Storm uptime is 100%. The only real thing holding me back from higher clears is Armor/Damage Reduction, and I suppose fishing. I don’t fish the “right” dungeons for Sigils like avoiding Red Ghosts/Corpse Bows.
WTH…you are level 80 and running NM tier 80 ? Damn!!! You are in season I guess ? Where you can have decrepify constantly ? My Mendeln barely do 80K if lucky lol, highest I can do is NM38
Yeah, Seasonal. I haven’t touched Eternal since Season came out, but I have a Necro on Eternal as well (ironically, with the same setup). I was lucky to nab a Ring of Mendeln in the Season, so I could use the same concept/idea, just more refined.
The Hearts definitely add to power. I don’t even use Barber yet. While I was using Corpse Vines previous to Season, this Season makes it brain-dead easy, plus the Aspect. I moved more towards Bone Storm this season, and haven’t regretted it. Bone Storm with 100% uptime is amaaaaazing for both damage and survival - and it’s powered mostly by the Decrepify Heart.
3 Hearts I use:
Decrepify
Corpse
Damage Reduction / Revenge (for the DR only). If I get a 2s Barber, I’ll swap it out (probably). I literally have an inventory full of Creeping Death, 0 Barber for my Necro. My issue isn’t damage though, it’s surviving. I honestly don’t even know if Revenge is working for damage reduction or not.
Skill Bar:
Bloodmist
Tendrils
Bone Storm
Raise Sekeleton
Bone Spear
Bone Splinters
Reaper Skeletons for Corpse generation, Cold Mages for some Freeze/extra cc.
Gear:
Deathless Visage (not critical, but nice to have)
Chest (Might Aspect - 20% damage reduction for 6 sec after using a basic skill)
Gloves (Splintering Aspect - Better Bone Spear)
Legs (Shielding Storm Aspect - Barrier for Bone Storm)
Boots (Blood Getter Aspect - +2 Skeleton Warriors)
Wand 1h (Serration Aspect - Ossified Essence Key Passive)
Amulet (Osseus Gale Aspect - Longer Bone Storm, +50% due to amulet, +15 extra secs)
Ring (Grasping Veins Aspect - Crit/Damage on Grasping Cast)
Ring of Mendeln (Critical to build)
Focus (Edgemaster’s Aspect - Extra damage based on Primary Resource)
Paragon:
1st Base Board - Exploit Glyph (16)
2nd Bone Graft - Control Glyph (5)
3rd Flesh-Eater - Amplify Glyph (9)
4th Scent of Death - Gravekeeper Glyph (4)
5th (planned) Cult Leader - Deadraiser Glyph
I doubt I’ll hit the bonuses/secondary bonuses for the 5th board Glyph Nodes, and have no intention of getting the Legendary Glyph. Minion damage doesn’t matter, I’m only using it for the Minion Damage Reduction and some extra stats. Deadraiser will boost the Minion Damage Reduction. I’ll try for the Dexterity on the Custody Rare Node, but 530 is a large number.
Current plans:
- Expand Amplify/Increase level to gain extra Willpower and Dex nodes as well as boost them all higher.
- Put in Paragon points near Amplify to unlock 40 Int (20 unlocks once it’s expanded) for the secondary bonus.
- Gain Scent of Death Legendary Node.
- Expand to Cult Leader Board and put in Deadriser for extra Minion Damage Reduction.
Thanks for the info, I can’t believe Mendeln can run tier 80…isn’t mobs like level 135+ That is like 50+ level higher than you LOL
Yeah, they die though. But the new Corpse Heart revives them (instead of casting Veins), so it’s far easier to manage than non-seasonal. You can also hold down the Skeleton button to auto-cast it over your mouse. It makes reviving them easier too. I do this by sound: the raise skeleton makes a different sound than raise priest (when you are full army).
Once I get Deadriser (and more armor) going, I think my skeleton issue disappears. They never die in NMD 60s, except to the on-death fire explosions that they just stand in lol.
Maybe ur build around the mendeln ring ist not good. Rule nr.1 for a mendeln build is - ignore minion dmg, push ur own dmg, because mendeln proccs scales with ur dmg.
530 dex isn’t too hard to path around at about lvl 92 if you purposely route through a dex heavy area. I’m sitting around 560 right now, and I think I only have 30 dex from gear from a bad reroll, lol. Turned out to be will I had to move some points around to cover, surprisingly.
Eh, it’s not super critical. If I get it, it happens. If not, no big deal. I’d rather have +80 Int than +80 Dex, lol
Oh yeah, definitely, lol. Just letting you know that in a few levels, youll be able to cover that dex req and still be +700-750 int before max level with a little route planning.
Edit: Finally got a Lidless last night and lost a chunk of stats to dropping my focus, and was surprised at how easy it was to get all bonuses reactivated just by moving points around. Lol.
Mendel is capable of NM 100. It just gets hard with very bad affixes like poison dots plus on death explosions.
My 2 cents on this. Some may consider that as an exploit other as game mechanics.
No matter what necro style you playing on high NM you are ending up with identical playing script - pop the first corpse, go into mist (which also should produce 1 corpse per second) with aspect that refresh your Mist timer by 0.5 second per corpse in between mists cast you simply do as much damage as you can. You can have few safeguards that I found useful. Barrier-on-demand with your unique pants, CT with specialty of blood orbs (and after problem been fixed it do produce tones and tones of orbs). This will allow you survive number of hits from Butcher, if you want to get extra safety net consider unique boots that produce chilling trail. Key of wining (yeah I know it sad) using infimist with extras which can be barrier-on-demand or/and chilling trail and kite Butcher
