Bliz, please consider giving us the option to turn off the mini map. In its current form it is basically useless. Unless we can zoom in out much further, it is just covering up game play. You don’t want to give us an overlay(I would be happy with the D3 version) map, but will give us a useless box in blocking a segment of the screen. Give us options. I am sure they are a lot of people that love the mini map, and that is great. I want to turn it off.

I agree you should be able to toggle it off.
But just in case you didn’t see, if you set a map pin on the main map, then your mini map will show you the fastest path line to that pin. Also the direction to quest indicators and such. So “basically useless” is a bit of a stretch.

No I saw it, that is fine for the “I am in town and I am going to run a nonstop path to a predefined known point” , but I have a good memory and thus never used it in beta for places I had been.
I get they do not want the overlay, I doubt we will ever get a d2 overlay. The d3 transparent map would be fine. Start moving in a direction, quick tap tab twice and you have the map info you need, proceed. I will be doing this with their current map it is just clunky as it blocks all view and is full screen. Obviously this is a console design choice because it views well on a TV screen viewed from across the room on the couch. same with all the clunky full screen elements IE the clan/friend/party systems.
Options would be great, or just design a built for PC UI all around would be nice.

The main issue I had with the map was it auto correcting to ultra far out zoom when you close or open it multiple times. If I need to look at the map it needs to stay the zoom level I was last at, not zoom out to outer space.
I’d actually like a way to turn the hud off completely. Maybe two small bars for hp and resources. Game looks so much better that way.

Blizzard D4 Team should definitely give all players the ability to disable the annoying mini map on the upper right hand corner of the screen. It is obstructing game play during some fights and in dungeons. Very frustrating! ALLOW PLAYERS TO DISABLE / TOGGLE ON OFF THE DAMN MINI-MAP IN D4, BLIZZARD TEAM!
