Mid-Season Patch is great for Stormclaw

Looking at the vampiric powers they’re bringing back from S2, half of them seem like they’re made to address how weak basic attacks are this season. With the return of Hectic and Monrise, basic attack stonk builds are going to benefit massively.

Im happy about this because I switched from LS to Stormclaw for fun a while ago and it just did not do enough damage to showcase the paingorger gauntlets potential.

I was Stormclaw for s2. One of my favorite builds in the game. Really excited for Tuesday

Given that Paingorger and Adaptability aspect exist, Basic skill has a place now.

I think the rings would have moonrise and adaptability

Moonrise maybe in amulet depending on what scales, otherwise just put the one on ring and if you want hectic now you have choices between natures fury build Stormclaw or Beastial/Lupine, seems a lot more flexible. Honestly with Beastial buff kinda wanna run the Hectic setup with Roar.

That’s true moonrise will be up almost all the time, don’t really need rapid aspect there

Stormclaw is still in a very good spot at the moment, its just the outliers like HoTA/Charge Barb that makes it look bad. It really depends on how gear and balance changes in S4 going forward. Although it may be fair to say that Arc Lash could be leagues ahead at the moment especially with Hectic going forward. Probably will try Beastial setup first due to the extra attack speed and bonus damage.

I’d question whether or not Adaptability is really the best choice here, at least until they fix it.

Does adaptability not do the damage it’s supposed to? Haven’t read anything about that online.

What’s the bug? I’m not aware of anything so far but also have not used it or Paingorgers yet.

I just tested it, seems to work fine for me

The difference in damage is not as big as I thought x80% would be, but It’ll be even better with Moonrise instead of Rapid aspect. Don’t need much damage for the gauntlet either.

11(k)/15(k) = 0.73% Increase. These are approximate numbers so I would assume its granting x80% as intended. May upload the clip of me testing this on the dummies.

What’s your pre-release take then? Stormclaw, shred, or Lightning storm?

Also, which do you like for single target DPS? Still Shred I assume?

PS, the fact you get 73% versus 80% (so that means you do a nice rounding gratis for Blizz) is another example of just how wonky Blizz math actually is.  Thanks sincerely for the data. Wile that you are 7% off and not 0.7% off.

I haven’t tried shred yet (prob will today) but based on what I’ve seen, a perfected Shred will only be slightly better than LS not because of damage, but because of the teleporting ability of shred. You do have to take into account that LS makes room for you to equip the Ahavarion spear, which shred may not be so compatible with. They’ll change places every week with who’s better.

I believe Shred is still better for single target, but If you’ve seen my Uber Lilith kill as LS, you’d see the ST is pretty similar since LS strikes so many times in the millions.

The damage from the aspect is only applied to Claw but not to Storm Strike in spite of the effects stating that it should. I already submitted a bug report about this a while ago but they have yet to fix it.

Screamheart has a new stormclaw build up on yt but it’s only A tier supposedly you can clear nm100 but I tried it today and found it about 10 tiers lower than my lightning build was and doesn’t feel as strong… I went back to lightning
