No idea if I’m doing this right, but here’s my current equipment strategy. Tell me where I’m going wrong.
If I get a legendary and it has the maximum roll on the aspect, I save that legendary in my chest for disenchanting later.
If I get a non-legendary item and it’s not an upgrade from what I’m currently using, I’ll salvage it if it’s less than 20,000 gold and/or it’s got a transmog I want. If it’s more than 20,000 gold I’ll sell it.
Where I get super confused is if I get a yellow item that’s an upgrade compared to a currently equipped legendary item, I’m not sure if I should swap to the yellow and enchant an aspect onto it, forget enchanting until later in the game, or what.
You get more than enough Veiled Crystals and other materials just from enemy drops, so it’s better to sell everything you pick up, and salvage all Legendaries that either are not part of your build or alt builds or don’t have near or perfect maxrolled Aspects.
Even though not salvaging any yellows since level 50 I still have hundreds of Veiled Crystals just from enemy drops, more than enough for me. You’ll quickly find that lack of gold is more a problem than lack of materials.
Also, when to switch Legendary to imprinted Yellow. If you have a less than maxrolled Aspect, you can switch it now, as long as you have a near to perfect maxrolled Aspect for saving to use 10 levels after your previous Yellow upgrade. But your imprinted Aspect for replacement should always have better rolls than the Aspect you already have equipped.
If I replace a Legendary (not max roll) with a higher level yellow (likely sacred) now, should I always imprint something on the new yellow or should I save my maxrolled extracted aspects for later in the game? I.e. is it normal to replace a Legendary with a higher-tier yellow and not imprint something on the yellow?
You also need to remember that as you level up, the value ranges for Aspect rolls will continue to increase, so that’s why you should not save it for more than 10 levels, because then even a maxrolled Aspect from 10 levels ago could be weaker than a lowest rolled Aspect later.
As for Yellows without Aspects, only switch from Legendary to non-imprinted Yellow if it’s an Aspect you can do completely without for your build (such as different elements, skills or weapons you don’t use). Otherwise, always place a usable Aspect into a Yellow, even if it is not important.
That’s very helpful information, thank you. Makes me feel better about not having to save aspects forever. One more question - in the codex of power I’ve heard that the aspects will be on the lowest end of the range. Does that range get set at the time you obtain the aspect in the codex? I.e. if I get an important to my build aspect while I’m at level 10, is the power of that aspect totally useless when I’m at level 75?
The codex aspects always have the lowest possible value in a range, and this range will update to keep up with your level bracket, meaning the values of an aspect in the codex will grow with your level but will always be the lowest value possible for that range.
Actually so far I have seen no veiled crystals dropping as loot from mob kills in 99% of killing them. The vast majority of my VC come from salvaging rares at the Blacksmith.
If a rare is better base stats compared to a legendary, look at imprinting an aspect on it asap and use it.
Awesome info here.
One thing to keep in mind if you are planning to create Alts of the same class is that imprinting extracted Aspects from your higher level gear will make gear that level and overwrite say the low level rare you imprinted it on. So if you are planning alts, good to save the lower level Aspects. Related tangent, need more space for Aspects!
Definitely not salvage. Since at some point there was a ninja nerf to drops. Now like half the elites in the game drop veiled crystals instead of loot.
The aspects in your codex scale with your level but they are still the lowest value that can drop for your lvl. I don’t consider the “useless”, just only use them if I do not have a better extracted one
That’s a bit what I’m struggling with. How do I know which ones are valuable and which ones are not. My big worry is imprinting something at level 55 that I should have saved until level 90.
