Please refer to the following video for the infinite meteor chain reaction build:
Now, it of course looks fun on paper and it seems like Starfall Coronet would boost is significantly. However, please consider the following:
- You’re going to be stacking lucky hit chance instead of raw damage bonuses for this build.
- You won’t be using Shako, losing a ton of damage and defensive bonuses.
- Even with optimized gear as seen in Rob’s video, damage in AoZ15 was embarrassingly low.
Without a damage buff to meteor, it doesn’t matter how many meteors you can drop. 10 × 0 is still 0.

I play meteor because it’s fun, we are not the same

I don’t disagree with this, in general, but a few things to keep in mind.
- There is no AoZ at the start of S3. I wouldn’t be surprised if it or another endgame activity appears later on, but at least for now the bar is Duriel runs and farming NMD90.
- I also wish this wasn’t a helm due to Shako’s existing, but the pet does have an uber stone that gives +skills and a tuning stone that gives damage reduction. These can help offset not having a Shako, to some extent.
- From what the devs have hinted at, and that fact S1 and S2 themes had some chonky effects, I strongly suspect the pet can do a lot of damage.
I’m sure the meteor will do enough damage against NMD 100 with uber-lite starless. I say uber-lite only because tal-rasha is the real sorc uber. Any preview video just wouldn’t be able to demo the extra hits or the starless buffed 40%.
And at some point I confess I wished it dropped as uber grade so it would just be a perfect roll at this point!
If you want performance then Blizzard should be the go-to option. If you’re on the fence then watch how Meteor plays out for other players and switch if you feel like it’s worth it.
Having to decide between Starfall and Shako presupposes that you have a Shako.
Beyond that, in the absence of a challenge like AoZ, Shako is probably overkill. By the time you get one, you probably don’t need it to make mincemeat of just about any content. Gauntlet runs may be the only exception, but unless the difficulty is scaled very high, speed and efficiency will probably be the primary concern there. That being the case I think the underlying nature of the build will matter more (e.g. how efficient the main damage dealing skill is for clearing and bossing).

The streamer video is interesting in theory, but I think it’s going to suffer due to the very lackluster base LHC of Burning effects. Meteor itself has a very high LHC, which is good, but the enchantment proc rate is very low. I see he was using the Enchantment Master legendary paragon node which is so far out of the way that it typically costs you a glyph slot, and that merely brings the proc chance from 8% to 10% (and that’s with the system rounding up from 9.6%).
I’d be inclined to try it out with Fireball instead of Firewall due to the much higher LHC of that skill and the fact that it benefits from most of the same stats and affixes that Meteor does, especially Esu’s Ferocity key passive and CHC/CHD, neither of which benefit Firewall at all (except indirectly via Burning Instinct).
If you use Firebolt as your other enchantment, my understanding is that the LHC of the DoT is affected by the LHC of the skill you used to apply it. If true, then every mob that got hit would start generating rolls for the length of the Firebolt burn, at some rate that is positively affected by Fireball’s relatively high LHC.
Are the new Uniques considered “Uber” Duriel drops or will they drop from one of the other Bosses.
They will probably drop from the new construct boss which is going to be a problem for those that play on eternal as that one is going to be “season only” for the foreseeable future.
It’s the same case in S2 for Conjurations/Hydra. In theory and in paper, it looked great. A bunch of streamers also predicted how the new Conjuration/Hydra will be strong in S2.
We all know what happened in S2.
Meteor builds without Shako are already viable in S2. Viable meaning it can do NM 100 and AoZ T1 (pre-nerf patch).
The trap is thinking it will be the next broken BL build, but if you’re just considering it for NM 100 and AoZ T5 (post-nerf patch), Meteor is definitely viable.

Arc Lash is looking to be the new BL with Paingorger’s and Aspect of Adaptability. The question is what will or won’t trigger Paingorger’s. If it works off Unstable Currents, in theory you should be able to run Flickerstep and delete entire rooms.
If yes, Blizz needs to patch it unless they really love broken stuff (which I think they do or just lazy to address things properly)
Yeah I think Arc Lash will be a beast. Just pair it up with something that hits big AOE. UC, sure. Blizzard or FW might also work very well there depending on whether damage ticks can reapply the marking for Paingorgers.
Keep in mind we don’t know whether or not the damage boost from the aspect of adaptability is additive or multiplicative, it’s a utility aspect so neither would surprise me.
at least somebody with common sense.
the same I was thinking.
none of sorcerer skills have the proper damage.
ball lighting skill has decent damage but meteor damage is very bad
incinerate is worthless and has to many penalties in the end sorcerers instead of lass cannons are paper pistols

Most sorc skills simply don’t scale well. Arc Lash scales with both attack speed and crit chance. BL used to also scale with attack speed well. But other skills just don’t have any meaningful interactions. And their raw damage isn’t enough to compensate for it either.

Exactly. none of sorcerer skills deal enough damage. after a long battle you end up dying.
typical outcome. and they don’t listen
Even if Meteor works, the chains are going to take a while to clear the room.
