Don’t get me wrong, i think the game is heading the right direction regarding character development, builds diversification, end-game content and such.
But what Vessel of Hatred brings to the game concerning the above aspects was necessary for it to keep becoming a good hack n’ slash that people will stick to.
This could have been added to the game over a few seasons.
Now, i’m gonna be honest: charging almost a full game’s price for a new region, a new class and a story so short in which we don’t even get to kill the main vilain protagonist leaves me with a very bitter taste.
You are introducing the rise of Mephisto and after a few hours of gameplay you just drop it, close the curtains and basically say that we’re gonna pay the same price in a year to kill him.
im with you that i considered the campaign a little short. However, im not dissatisfied that we dont kill mephisto. Im kinda tired of every diablo game and expansion working exactly the same regarding this
So yea, im good with that hes still there.
while the campaign was a little short. i still enjoyed it. 40 bucks is ok for me there.
You know, it wouldn’t be as annoying if Diablo operated like WoW expansions, where we get major patches that advance the story, but instead it’ll be a year or more wait and more money. So, I’m actually leaning towards abandoning D4.
And I’m going to keep harping on this: their effort for this expansion is shown by the lack of new mobs. It’s absolutely insane that the new zone is packed with reskins and reused monsters, some of which don’t even fit the jungle theme.
The thing that has me feeling extremely annoyed right now is the underhanded tricks they pull. Take Spiritborn for example. Yes it would be strong, but making it so strong that players feel like they’re wasting their time on any other class? That’s a cheap move to drive sales. And the cosmetics. I paid for the expansion and they purposely make all previous transmogs not work on Spiritborn. Make no mistake, they did that on purpose. And then give nothing for Spiritborn in the battle pass. So that after buying the class my only option for some variety of good looking skins is to go to the shop. That’s underhanded, nefarious and extremely insulting.
But bro, what about the new journey through all the convoluted, layered rng upgrade paths for currency/mats/gear? Surely you appreciate the itemization swamp we developed for you?
Sincerely, DEV
I know this opinion applies to few others, but they can keep the duration of conversation skip simulator as short as they like
If this was less content then necro d3, then yeah…probably a problem with price by x2 but if it was more content which it seems like i think 40 was still reasonable.
One reason D-3 was just cut so short was it inability to make money for itself to continue actual larger content such as more xpac and game design to be added. D-4 design and looking to the future they made the choice of adding a ever none finished story line and xpacs often, even if the content is not like massive 80 hour long story line or slaying 4 demon gods of hell over and over as they pop up and fall down. This one is leading us on a much longer projection of content and story line. A build up and carry on from one release to the next, not just relying on seasonal content little add and taking away powers.
Would you rather them just say here is the game, now for the next 10 years you will have no updates outside of barrowed power seasons to play? They can keep charging me for the xpac and I will keep playing as long as I am enjoying myself. I don’t mind paying the standard price tags of modern day gaming. Its not the 1980’s anymore when $20 got you 72 hours worth of game play or more in games that the graphic where ugly and they came on huge floppy disk for computers that if you didn’t make copies of them, they wore out more often in short runs of playing the game over again.
They can because people will still pay. Modern Blizzard is about delivering as little content as possible, but still sell their products based on the name of the franchises. It works.
Necro D3 was a dlc for just that class. The other stuff they released for free, since they had developed it for the 2nd expansion but it was cancelled.
The D3 expansion was RoS, and I feel it was larger than VoH.
I think i would agree eventually, by just trying to remember D3.
in the end i dont think that the length really is that super important, as long as the story quality is good, which i think it was.
I mean dont get me wrong, i felt like the last 20% of the campaign were a little rushed, but i think the problem is also that i was pretty much pushing the campaign.
This is all true. The game has much better monetization than D3 did which will help fuel more expansions. The story ended short of us killing Mephisto because they know that they will have enough money coming in to fund more expansions.
