They don’t have that kind of technology yet, we need at least 50 more of the same horse model reskinned to slightly different colours before we get anything new
After the chestnut brown shade of horse, we will get the hot chocolate shade of brown horse. Maybe after that we will get lucky enough to get the coffee brown shade

The only way I would be OK with this is if it were made canon via a storyline expansion that explains why the hero of the story is riding Mophisto. In that scenario, the mount could be granted as a reward for completing the expansion.
I am opposed to any cosmetics that don’t fit with the theme of the game or mess up the story.

I want an elephant mount so I can stomp through and kill while riding.
Odd that they planned to plan to make some money on microtransactions but they half assed that as well. All horses??? Why not a Dire Wolf/Bear mount. A moose mount. I know there antlers armor. No classic D2 cosmetics. Trophies are barely visable outside banners. The preorder backpack kinda ugly. No cosmetic abilities. Druid could have a wearbear or zombiebear skin. Wolf could have some similar cosmetics too.

I guess that’s the thing about sanctuary. It might be a weird semi-hellish area not at all like earth once you get to know it, but there are only humans there, and apparently as a result only horses as well. I hate horse mounts in wow but I don’t see them expanding since this is kind of low fantasy when it comes to races and weird stuff like that.

Actually there are plenty of animals and diverse wildlife not just humans.
Technically true but there are no other sentient races but demons and people, and no playable race but humans. If you’re going to stick with humans I guess you also stick with horses. That’s all I was getting at. It’s not like wow with a dozen playable races and at bare minimum as many unique mounts (actually a lot more, but at the beginning every additional race had its own mount).
The cat people from act 2 in d2 are considered sentient actually according to d2 lore. Maybe it’s been retconned I don’t know.
My barbarian could ride one of those bison/cow mobs.
