I just got mendeln and upgraded it to +4 warrior/mage/golem, and dont increase lvls in skill tree.
Damage still same, that means isnt a display bug…

Damn the only thing that made it semi good doesn’t work. Lame.
Seems this ring is doomed to always be a clown item. Between it not scaling at all with any sort of summoning boosts, it’s now even bugged lol. I really don’t see why they don’t just make the aoe damage it does based off of the damage the minion is doing, which would let it scale properly and function as an actual summoner unique.
This is frustrating.
I had some hope since mastecraft gave me +4 skill (no GA, just upgrades), then i notice the bug.
This is the only unique supposed to be used with minion build and we cant even test it…
Still the special power useless, but mastery itself buff golem (×)100% and mages (x) 80%, which is a viable replacement to some aspect.
Hope it gets fixed mid-season.
More like after season they’ll patch it. Blizzard is perpetually 1-2 patches behind where they should be in terms of bugs.
Noticed this too. Hope they hot fix it. Does not add skills. I was excited to see the added stat and then sad.
Edit: it appears that the skill boost happens outside of town - but not while in town.
Than we have to test it out side if it actually increases minion damage?
That’s kind of annoying but at least it works when needed.
Works outside town, this is actually a common theme with quite a few items and aspects. So the good news it works, bad news is its annoying to work things out while in town. This should be fixed imho.
I will test it again tonight, after my work.

Funny thing, in the maxroll planner the ring doesn’t add the ranks either.
sadly not the damage is not increasing even outside of town… tested it with a ring nearly same stats and i also masterworked it to +4 and no damage increase at all…
also if u look in the stats tab normally when u gain a mastery rank the number for golem damage is increasing but not with the ring…
and in the dummy dungeon u still get the visual +3 in the skill tab but no damage increase at all it counts as outside
I did new tests for about 30 minutes or more, outside town (with monsters) and also test dummies.

Outside the town, or in dummies room, in fact show + ranks in skill tree, also in char stats tab (ex: golem) but the damage dont increase.
I did my tests with golem alone, to see more easily the numbers, and since the ring has +4 (which increase x100%), it should be very noticable…
PS: i found another bug, with grandfather…
For some reason if i use my scythe, then switch to grandfather, and switch back to my scythe, the golem almost double the damage.
Might be some weird bug with the x100% critical damage special effect that stay in the golem…
For your information, the Ring of Meldeln does not display the damage in the city but outside the city or in a dungeon, only the damage with the warriors appears but not with the mages and the golem. I tested this and I only say warrior damage works outside of town and in dungeons.
Seems like its a good thing I can’t find one of these. It really makes you wonder if blizz has a QA department at all.

Dont work buddy, no matters if the char statistic show the damage increase outside town.
Even the golem damage in skill bar increase, but when you test it on pratice via dummies or monsters, the damage dont change.
My test was observing the max possible critical damage (around 30 minutes checking with or withou the ring), and damage didnt increase.
You all can test it and see, more info is always better.
I have tested on the dummy to see if my +2 skeletal mastery mendeln ring works, and currently I have concluded the mastery does not work.
My testing procedure.
All tests were conducted with a single skeletal mage!
Testing was done with a mendeln with 47% additive damage mod and +2 to skeletal and golem masteries.
I deactivated cult leader to prevent it from interacting with the ring of mendeln attack speed modifier and add multiplicative damage.
I tested once with mendeln equipped and once without.
While ring of mendeln was equipped I would remove 2 skill points from my mage mastery in my skill tree, and when I repeated the test without mendeln, i would reapply these points back into my skeletal mage mastery node in my skill tree. This insured that if mendelns mastery mods worked, the outcome of the two damage tests would be equal, if not slightly in favour of mendeln due to the 47% additive damage modifier difference. This way my skill tree always showed that I had 3/3 mastery, as I either had 1 hard point and 2 from the ring, or non from the ring and 3 hard points.
I made sure I pressed no buttons or moved throughout testing.
I unequipped all my gear except for my weapon, obviously mendeln was equipped for its portion of the testing.
I only paid attention to non crits and while testing mendeln, conveniently the mendeln proc was hitting for a much higher number the the skeletal mages, meaning it was easy to isolate and ignore.
Results:
With mendeln and an overall skill tree display of 3/3 mastery my highest hit (non crit) was 44.7k this took over 8 minutes to see.
Without mendeln and with an overall skill tree display of 3/3 mastery my highest hit (non crit) was 52k, this was much faster to obtain as it was so evident the damage was higher.
Conclusion
The 3/3 mastery in my skill tree with mendeln equipped is obviously just visual, as the reality is the ring is providing nothing, and I am therefore only getting the benefits of 1/3 skeletal mastery, as well as the small 47% additive damage from the ring.
Without the ring equipped and with the skill points reapplied the 3/3 mastery in my skill tree is legit and therefore is providing a much larger bonus.
So yes, mendeln mastery is visual only and providing nothing.

Why for me it only works with the Skeletal Warrior Mastery and for the rest of you it doesn’t work. I confirm to you 500% that only the Skeletal Warrior Mastery is correct but not the Golem & Mage.
