Memory leak still not fixed

Game is still eating 80% of my memory, this better be your top priority before launch blizzard or you’re going to lose a lot of potential customers.

Is that a threat, or are you going to supply the devs with your specs, where you were in game, VRAM usage etc…? That;s why we are given this opportunity to play…

I am having the same but it didnt happen to me last week at all. I did do NVIDIA’s newest driver this week though :expressionless:

switch your texture quality to medium!

Everything is at the lowest possible settings. This is the only game in existence to ever use this much memory. I play plenty of equally or more graphically intense games. This is unprecedented, I have never seen a game use 7k+ ram.

Are you sure thats memory leak and not an optimization measure ? I have 6 years old pc with 1070 and 32GB of ram , it uses 28GB of ram but the game runs butterry smooth at 140fps , no fps drops and no crashes. I think it loads all textures and shadders into the memory for optimization but im not sure , im very suprised at the framerate im getting.

That only half fixed the problem for me last beta test, I found locking my fps to 60 also helped a ton but it didn’t completely get rid of the stuttering for me.

Which is absurd, no other game does this and it completely wrecks players who don’t have insane amounts of ram. This has never been an issue in any other AAA game. This will wall off a vast amount of players if not fixed.

But what difference does it make if it uses almost all of your RAM or it does not ? You want your remaining 20gb to be free for what exactly ? Memory is dynamically allocated meaning if i open 20 chrome tabs my memory usage from diablo drops and im never at the cap , also if i alt and tab or ar character selection screen memory usage drops to 8GB

Not everyone has huge amounts of ram to spare, the minimum is still eating most of mine. The game stutters and performs poorly in towns and the open world anywhere other players are around.
You fail to see the point, no game uses this much ram especially at low settings. This is not normal and really not normal for a blizzard game. This will turn off many players I guarantee you.

The game requires 8GB ram , thats it. Anything above 8GB just helps you with more consistant and better frame rate. If the game can make use of my 32GB ram i would gladly give it for better perfomance. Also make sure you disable SSAO and put graphics on medium , it helped me with town and stutters.

Its a new game made for good PC’s , i myself as you dont have the budget for 2023 PC so thats why im running medium and 140 fps is perfect spot for me , if i could get 240 fps it would be better but not possible with my gpu unforch.

thats not something you can fix in a week … especially if that problem was there a year ago.
Even their own system, the developers … all the videos they showed past year was poorly optimized, they showed visual glitches and bugs in their released showcases …

so when they did not fixed it after a year … why would you assume they will fix it within a week? Thats so weird to think like that.
The game will be broken till end of 2024 minimum …

Think for a second …
they call this OPEN BETA … yet its only demo.
Last year closed beta was alpha.
And even their photos and gameplays released few weeks ago, check the right bottom corner … it says everywhere PRE-ALPHA … that means its not even ALPHA.

Think … use your brain, it will make sense.

There is a difference between a memory leak and using a lot of RAM

Does your RAM consumption increase with time and/or cause a pagefile to be constantly expanding as well with your RAM at or near full capacity? Also does performance decrease with respect to run-time of the game client? If not, then the game may just be ram heavy and not leaking

I’ve never noticed a performance loss over many hours of continuous login, so never bothered to check

holy crap that worked.

from 24GB down to 13gb.

Seems like it. If you have RAM available, D4 will use it. I’ll check my spouses computer when they get through the queue. They have a newer computer than me with 64GB of RAM. I’m at 32 and D4 uses a big chunk of that.

It doesn’t go up it just starts abnormally high, I didn’t think it was a true memory leak because it doesn’t act like you said but that is what everyone was calling it so I just went with it.
Whatever it is, it’s goes against normal blizzard games practice of having very accessible games even for low spec players.

I wish games would STOP catering to ez-mode in terms of ability and hardware and start pushing the limits. Raise the challenge bar, make gamers better and use new technology as opposed to ~10 year old. As soon as a game is ‘cross platform friendly’, pushing the limits is out the window + I understand that not everyone has great hardware, so that limits your market and revenue too. Sucks.

More accurately, the game likely needs optimization, but probably not leaking memory.

Way back in the day I tested and played a game called Earth and Beyond, a quite noticeable memory leak. Start the game and run it for awhile, initially 2GB or so (old game) and after a few hours 4GB, another hour or so and I’ve maxed out my ram on my old POS first computer → virtual memory pagefile on hard drive = super slow speed and game begins to chug. Restart computer to reset everything, launch game again and repeat process. The timing of the performance drop/RAM overload was predictable.

With todays machines, if you have any kind of SSD, pagefiles can operate much faster baseds off the iops of the drive and the effects may not be as apparent. Talking on the order of ~500 MB/s vs ~5, drive performance is 100x better!

Just get 64gb of ram

Give it time and the level of details in the game is amazing. Just like any new title, with custom engine, it’s going to drive video cards.

This is nothing new and has been around since consumers could buy GPU’s, the industry drives the need for better cards to run graphics.

i have a 3930k with 8g of ram and a 970 and it run perfectly no lag at all
