Forgive me if this has been posted before. Since I began playing D4 as a Barbarian, I have noticed some very odd interactions. I kept thinking my experiences were just one-off things or temporary glitches due to lag/my potato pc/etc., however after becoming more frustrated with melee combat in general I decided to see if I could replicate any of this, and it turns out, yes absolutely. I’m not the most articulate person so please bare with me while I try to explain what I’ve found so far.
1- If your target is near a wall or corner your melee ability will often just not activate. I have tried to replicate this many times and have done so successfully. During melee combat, if for whatever reason your primary target ends up next to a wall, a ground clutter object, or a corner, your melee ability (I was using Frenzy to test this) will just not activate. You have to move your character and try to coax your target away from said object to attack again. I’ve tested this on regular walls in dungeons, large ground clutter objects like trees.
2- Skeletal walls that you find in the outside world cause all sorts of crazy interactions with your character. The most awkward interaction I’ve been able to replicate is as follows. I tested this using Kick. I was inside a full circle of skeletal walls, I was positioned so that my back was facing the wall and I had a large group of skeletal warriors directly in front of me. I used Kick…and my kick destroyed the wall behind me, and did nothing to the skeletal warriors directly in front of me. This is something I can replicate.
As you can imagine, this is extremely frustrating if you’re a melee player (as arpg’s are generally not very kind to melee players to begin with). Sadly, I am a melee player and since I can replicate these two examples it makes me worried for things I may encounter as I go further in the game. Has anyone brought this up before? Has this been talked about at all? Is this just a Barbarian thing, do melee Rogues experience anything like this?
If anyone else has experienced this please share your findings so I know I’m not going crazy.
