I hadn’t seen any talk on the season coming up about nerfs to burning damage on sorcerers, so I had my fingers crossed that my incinerate sorc would still be strong after the patch. Then I saw that they’re capping the bonus from the Combustion passive to 100%(x)
Care to guess what my incinerate sorcerer’s current bonus is? 3046%(x)
The buffs to incinerate and other burning related skills seem highly unlikely to make up for this reduction. Who called for this mega nerf? What incinerate sorcerers were breaking the game? Seriously Blizzard, why do you hate fun??
They only want you to play certain builds and do certain activities so that the data comes back that these new additions have been a massive success. See The Pit for explanation.
Anytime I previous played Sorc I always hated Hydra but now I would play Hydra and just have to push all that detest deep down inside until I choked on it.
Normally I don’t really care when they drop caps on uncapped stuff (because uncapped stuff is generally bad for balance), but in this case I actually have to agree. The problem is that Burning, and DoT builds in general, just don’t scale in this game. Like at all. They have never been good absent some sort of uncapped scaling - Gushing Wounds, the old Burning Instinct back when it scaled uncapped, or now Combustion.
Blizzard tried scaling base damage on Incinerate, to the point that it’s hilariously overpowered in the early game, but they can’t get it to properly scale in end game without an uncapped multi somewhere.
This is a mechanic that needs revisiting. Firewall has the same problem and fewer multipliers available than Incinerate gets. Druid poison builds have also been a joke since S1; if the new Pulverize build works I am sure it will be because the direct damage scales and not because the poison DoT does.
Yeah I stopped playing seasons. I got tired of the Blizz treadmill. I have more fun playing on eternal and setting my own goals. I guess that over with now…seems like it’s time to drop this game again.
This size nerf will probably drop my sorcerer from easily doing T4 down to stuck on T1. It’s not about the number, it’s about Blizzard repeatedly destroying fun and functional builds that people invested a lot of time in.
I know you’re a troll and you don’t care. This response is just for anyone else that might read your question.
If you read the thread you’d have seen I stopped playing seasons. I’ve been having fun on eternal.
And before you try to say no one plays eternal, it’s more active than it’s been in a long time. Evidence to support this: Blizzard never would have added the battle pass to eternal unless there were a significant number of people playing only there.
Even though I’m excited for this season, I’ll probably still just play to finish one character and quit after a week or two. That seems to be the pattern I’ve fallen into ever since S6.
There’s just one question: if you’re playing Torment I or II, are you able to find this new Hydra amulet, but with 3-4 Greater Affixes? Torment IV is out of reach for this build.
I’m skeptical of this just because as a previous poster in this thread mentioned, the damage over time skills have never scaled as well as direct damage. A 30x nerf of a DoT skill may be much worse.
Don’t engage this dude this is all he posts on this forums. There are 2 of them who can watch blizzard destroy a d tier build and say it was a good change.
Ceilings are always hidden as a form of balance. It’s like a poorly done repair. Something is out of control, let’s put a ceiling. If we have 2 passives, one gives you 50% multiplicative damage and the other gives you 10% of elemental damage that I can put 2000%, which one will be better??? They are terrible with numbers. There are very high numbers in this game. This needs to be improved. This is the big problem, see overpower, its problem was the life that reached huge numbers.
