Masterworking, whats the point of reroll?

Besides artificially prolonging the life of the season, what is the point of being able to reset the result with gold?

I.e., in fact, another level of randomness appears, which does not affect anything except artificially prolonging your game time, if I can understand that with tempering where you can basically break an item, then in a situation with masterworking, the possibility of a reroll make absolutely no sense.

Either make a choice of what to prioritize when moving to each level, or remove it at all and let it break as in tempering. It absolutly looks like as your favorite timegating in WOW.

Well, i like the option to reroll masterworking, if u truely dislike the result

5M is what? 1 tree of whispers ( even if they are a little harder than previous season to fill )

Its still not bad =)

It is not smthing your like or dislike, it doesnt really make sense at all.

Cuz you will get what you want anyway, it’s just timegating.

They should just allow you to make a choice what stat do you want to prioritize or masterwoking should break item like tempering.

What we have today doesnt make sense.

I hate that term timegating =o

Of course you wont get perfect items right away, what are you really expecting? Having all perfect gear 3 days after the season started, then you will have nothing to do =o

Thats exactly the purpose of game developers, to develop game, that you actually gonna spend time on them

Its a past-time

His point tho.

It hardly makes sense to allow a minor indefinite adjustment loop on one upgrade path (still zero player control beside the decision to just go again) while hitting another with an abrupt sledgehammer.

No one said anything about insta bis, why is it that this is the line of thought.

I hate the term bricking as well as time gating, but i mind the terms much less than the experience.

Absolutely no one talks about bis items right away, but you have to play the game because it’s interesting, not because the developers want to take advantage of an unfair trick and artificially prolong your game time in it.

I don’t want to play a game in which I have to pointlessly farm gold in order to eventually still get this priority stat. It doesn’t make sense. This should be a free choice, or the item should break as in the case of tempering.

This will be fair.

You need that reroll if you hit crap stat

yeah it’s true.

But the point is you will get this reroll anyway, why don’t you either have a free choice or item will just break? What’s the point in this pointless activity?

Would be more interesting without the reset option.

Not only do I like that we can reroll masterworking, I wish that we could reset temperings as well.

Literally nobody can give me a decent answer why rerolling is good. It’s not about you like it or not, it’s just a pointless activity. You don’t like bricking items - why do you need pointless reroll? Do you like wasting your time for nothing? You will get this reroll eventually. It’s just timesinking.

You like bricking items - there should be no rerolls. So rerolling masterworking brings nothing except timegating.

It makes perfect sense when you take into account that everything in the game is done to artificially prolong the grind. Every aspect of the game has multiple levels of RNG and this is no exception. It’s all done to mask the lack of a real endgame or really any content beyond the initial 30-50 hours you spend leveling your first character and playing through the story.

They are not going to take rng out of d4, they are just not. Frankly Idm the “timesink” as I am not fussed on every item being perfect right away and if none of them end up perfect I do not mind so long as I enjoyed the journey.

So far the journey of S4 feels incredible.

So our options are brick, or reroll. i prefer reroll.

it’s nor rng, it’s timegating.
You will get eventually those upgrades, rng means - either you get them or not, infinite rerolls - is not RNG. So reroll in masterworking servs only 1 purpose - artificially prolong your season time.

you are taking something that is a nonissue and complaining about it, you make no valid argument or complaint, then try to say other people arent making sense? wtf is this the twilight zone?

Why is it nonissue LMAO? It’s same timegating mechanic like we had in D3 or in WoW. Absolutly useless timesinking. It would be better for you to use your logic sometimes, but i guess you are D3 player and you’re not used to it.

Again for someone w/o any common sense - it’s not RNG you will never brick your item, it’s 100% timegating mechanic.

When you consider that the devs objective is time investment rather than fun, it makes perfect sense. There is research that correlates time invested to money spend positively, and when they present a model that maximizes player time investment while minimizing costs, it pleases and appeases their investor overlords. And since this situation is not unique to Blizz but ubiquitous in the industry you cant just jump ship, its their slave galley or the sharks in the ocean.

This is not true.

Rerolling does not guarantee perfect stats any more than spending obols guarantees a perfect item. Eventually you might get what you want but it is not a guarantee, it is random.

On the topic of rerolling or not, I am glad we have the option to reroll.

But why play an arpg when the entire point is being on a rng hampster wheel. The entire genre is about grinding. Since its not both leveling and loot its just the loot hunt.

There is no timegating there is only winners and losers along with playing the game. Loot, mats and progression is a byproduct of playing the game.

The multi-level RNG has made loot interesting. But everything should have a limit either soft or hard capped
