Masterworking costs/rewards

Can you please lower the cost or increase the materials awarded?

Previously getting all items to 12/12 was enough you were “done”… now you need to tripple proc a specific stat to enable the one build that can function to the standard most players want to play the game at (quillshot).

All your wc2 cosmetics are wasted since there are no builds worth playing to support their sale. Maybe next season?

Its good to have some friction. If there is not cost a system is pointless

I agree, what I dont like is the “go back to square one”. If you had to go from 1-12 once per item, I would think it was fine, or even if you could pay to only re-roll the 4/12, 8/12, 12/12 crit.

Right now you have to:

Level up to 4/12
-20% chance to get the stat you want, 80% chance you have to reset

Level up to 8
-4% chance to get the stat you want (same as 4/12), 96% chance to reset

Level up to 12/12 <1% chance to get the result you want, over 99% chance you have to reset.

That is NOT a good system.

The problem with this season on masterworking is the costs compared to droprate of materials. Maybe it was meant to be this way but we are used to S5 and this feels so much worse.

I may be wrong (maybe I just didnt care as much)… but in S5 there was not as big an imperative to double/tripple proc, its because of the 275 resource meta, you need specific GA + MW procs on max resource… unless I am behind the times and everyone is resolve stacking?

Its good not to get everything you want. This is an arpg, RNG is the backbone of the excitment. Tho D4s systems are super simplistic as its taylored to the playerbase.

Tbh I think the only reason the masterwork system doesn’t get as much hate as it deserves is because most people who play this game just masterwork to 4 and call it good. If they go to 8 and it hits wrong, they just stop.

If more people were forced to interact with the masterworking system like they are the tempering system, you would have seen just as many complaints about it.

The only people who are actually “interacting” with the masterwork system are the 1% of players at endgame. That’s why there aren’t as many posts about it, because, as you said, it’s very bad. Moreover, the people in the 1% are not going to be the ones with limited resources, thus they are less likely to complain. I watched a clip of some streamer and he already had 10 billion gold on his character.

Running an IH on T4 (which I think is the best gold per hour) is only 11 million, and that’s only if you get good aether options; that’s literally 1 masterwork reroll and you’re broke.

In life its not good to get everything you want… I don’t want to make D4 my life. I want to get everything I want in D4 and move on THEN come back next season and do it over or if I still ahvent scratch the itch, get everything I want on the spiritborn then try something else like a barb (or try hardcore).

For me getting what I want in a video game is why I play video games. I set the parameters that why video games are great. They are the ultimate power fantasy and escapism.

Its a casual game. You dont need to make it your life. At the same time it shouldnt be a 100% i-win button.

This gets my vote. HC is a completely different game all in itself. I have so much fun in HC but friends wont play HC.

Blizzard with diablo 4 have serious problem of endgame and itemization.

So they are trying to slowing the basic progression and basic tool like masterworking.

For this they stealth nerfed the quantity of materials players get from blacksmith scrapping and the gold quantity players get from infernal horde gold chest.

Considered this is improbable they will reduce the costo fo masterworking and they already nerfed materials, diablo 4 isn’t an arpg like older Diablo, but an mmorpg which main point is farming materials instead farming gear like a true Diablo.
