I have chest armor on my rogue that I have now reset 4 times to try and get a new crit roll on level 4. The first time I masterworked the item, my level 4 bonus went to the +armor stat.
On the first two resets I rolled bonus to armor again on both. On the third reset I noticed that after resetting, the stats in my chatacter screen didnt change despite my armor losing dex/armor from the masterwork levels decreasing. I proceeded to masterwork and again rolled +armor at level 4.
On the fourth reset I didnt roll anything. I logged out, logged back in and played another character for 20 minutes or so. I then logged back into my rogue, and the chest had reset itself to level 4 masterwork with +armor. Basically it stole my 5 million gold.
I would like my 20mil gold plus materials back please. And a fix so this doesnt keep happening.

I think you just got very unlucky on the armor rolls but the reset does in fact revert if you just logout without re-masterworking it immediately. It just did this to me, and it just so happened to be on a rogue chest piece.
I just reset it again and upgraded back to 4 and got a different stat from my original one, though. Still a stupid bug because I lost 10mil. The first time I reset it and it reverted I thought maybe my progress got rolled back a bit, since it happened the other day when I d/ced and I wasn’t sure how much total gold I had at the time, so I just reset the masterwork again and thought nothing of it. Of course it went back to 4 again on next login and I realized it was bugged.
It shouldn’t cost 5mil to reset it anyway. You already lose all the mats you dumped into it and have to refarm. Why do I also need to pay a huge sum of gold on top?
After reseting a rank 10 Grandfather, it will no longer get a bonus to any stat at all at level 4. No blue number, no flat stat increase. Something is definately bugged still.
I noticed the exact same behavior. Attempted to reset and reroll 3 times. Received the same affix 3 times. Reset the chest one more time and did not attempt an reroll. I then left the game. When I logged back in the chest was masterworked with the exact same affix as before. This is a bug that will not allow you to reset the item.
Just masterworked a chest up to rank 4 and reset it because it was a resistance. It showed that it reset, but I couldn’t masterwork it back up. I logged out and back in, and my chest is at 4/12 again, but now I have no gold. Masterworking stole my gold!!!
Same thing happened to me on 2 rings a chestpiece and pants. There is no point in a reroll if it will never select a different affix… seems setup to just steal your time, gold and mats.
Absolutely bugged, burned a lot of gold and time “confirming” that fact lol
Workaround: unequip item and put in stash after reset then relog. Now you can respec it. You still lose the gold and materials but w/e at least you can respec. Hopefully patch soon.
