Map overlay would greatly aid in accessability

Immediate attention is needed for an essential feature in the game: an in-game map overlay. The current system of constant map swapping is highly frustrating and detrimental to the gaming experience.

Implementing a map overlay will significantly enhance gameplay by providing seamless navigation without disrupting the flow. This feature is critical for player convenience and enjoyment.

Please prioritize the development of an in-game map overlay to improve the overall gaming experience.
this accessability feature would help many players.

This thread has never been made before.

They’ve been pretty adamant about not adding one. With the latest editions to the QoL I also don’t see this coming anytime soon either. The new arrow around the character, sounds to tell you where to go, etc. Now I personally would love it, and have been advocating for it since launch. However the devs don’t agree, so sadly maybe we’ll see it in D5.

Still spamming they fourms eh?

“sounds to tell you where to go” this is very nice for some but umm that will not aid hearing impaired, or the people that rely more heavily on visual stimulus and input

I upgraded my car navigation system to S6. Should work nicely.

FYI…if you keep spamming the same threads they will just get locked and you will be given a vacation. This really isnt that big of a deal.

Iggi said it the best.

I mean, maybe… but having a memory larger then that of a goldfish is also helpful. I think I might pop my map open for 1s per dungeon run.

It was stated in many campfire streams they (the devs themselves) feel it takes away from the immersion (having an overlay open all the time). I feel I agree.

All the maps were also redesigned nearly a year ago so that there are very few where someone can get lost.

Anyway just my 2 cents.

what takes away from imersion is staring at a minimap. focusing on the center of the screen and the action that is happening is clearly superior for immersion.

Don’t stare at the mini map. Wish there were a way to turn that off. I rarely look at it accept on rare occasions.

If all someone is doing is staring at the mini map (or any map) then they are only doing a disservice to themselves. Yes, look at the center of the screen and play the game as intended.

exactly options are superior, turn minimap off would be great as its useless and rather bright compared to the rest of the screen all the time, and an option to help navigate with an overlay, then you could use neither and people that want it can use an overlay,

I can agree with that.

That being said the devs have given their response on the subject. it’s a topic as old as the game itself. They know there are those that want said system but they haven’t done it. That tells me it’s probably not coming.

Specially since it would likely take a single developer just a few hours to implement.

they have flip flopped more than my pancakes, thats not really valid.

They are not going to do this so get over it. D3 is what 12 years old now? People asked for it in that game as well and it was never instituted in all that time. They will not “flip flop” on this.

They definitely seem to be extremely against this, but I really wish they weren’t.

I really do miss the in-game map overlays from D2 era especially.

yea for sure, optional map overlay would help alot players accessability in the game, but the current state of the game shows its way down the list. im not sure how they would monetize adding an overlay map.
