Many crashes so far this season... getting frustrated

Hello all.

Let me just first detail why I’m writing here. I’ve crashed at least 7-8 times so far this season and I’m highly frustrated. I’ve posted a few topics regarding this in the PC General Discussion forum, but all that has come of this is theory crafting related to what is happening and how we could resolve this pesky issue, to no avail. You can check my profile if you want to read those topics.

I’ve had good discussion (the purpose of that PC General Discussion forum section) that I don’t regret having, but I want work to be done in order for this to be resolved. Me? I’ve verified file integrity, looked up and down this forum and beyond and even reinstalled the game. I’m certain that this isn’t due to my PC specs.

Here is my entire build/setup for reference.

GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3070 (reasonably overclocked using MSI Afterburner OC Scanner), no hiccups or game issues existent that don’t exist when non-overclocked (tested that). AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, one of (if not) the best CPUs that you can get. AMD AM5-compatible motherboard that has performed well based on everything that I’ve been putting it through. Liquid-cooled with a reasonable fan curve to ensure that my PC isn’t overheating or anything. 32 GB DDR5 RAM.

I’m merely detailing this to illustrate to you that my PC should handle this game at higher settings with no hiccups or crashes, but I’m running everything at medium/low settings (it still looks fine visually and I value performance over anything) and I’m still seeing frame drops that I never saw before this and, well, CRASHES. CRASHES that I’ve never seen before. When I was testing this PC (new build, carried over the GPU and that’s it) in December (during season 6), I was playing this game at ~medium settings (some settings higher), locked at 144hz (the frame rate of my monitor). That frame count didn’t budge once, even when I was playing in an infernal horde with a bunch of monsters and effects populating. I play this game no matter what, even at a lower 120hz and, when I’m standing in town by a fireplace or set of vendors/townspeople, my frames drop a bit. Tons of frame tearing when I’m perusing the map. Like… I’m confused. This didn’t happen once during my multi-hour testing/gaming session in season 6 and I didn’t even overclock my CPU, optimize my RAM or anything at that point. Not to mention, this didn’t happen once when I was playing season 6 ravenously on my not-as-good prebuilt for multiple months prior, even at launch.

If there is someone on the Technical Support side at Blizzard who can see this, please take this issue into account and hear my words. This is NOT something that I personally can fix. I have done much of what I can do on my end. There are many people experiencing the same thing, whether we’re playing as a Spritiborn, Druid, you name it. Different cases, different character environments. It’s just a software issue that needs to be escalated, assessed and rectified by development as soon as possible. Once again, please see the PC General Discussion section, myself and others have been discussing this since close to the start of the season.

I am wholly convinced that this is something that needs to be worked on on the development side. I had a prebuilt that I was using for about 2 years prior and for the entire time that I was playing Diablo IV on PC (since February of 2024) and, to be frank, I don’t think that I crashed once, at least based on what I could remember. Specs were most certainly far cheaper and less capable.

I love this game to death and have played it consistently since very early (if not the beginning) of the game’s lifecycle, initially purchasing it on PS5 before I bought it again on PC. I played it on Xbox via Game Pass (my Series S is plugged into my TV and I was playing on there more often at the time), bought the VoH expansion there and then (VERY unfortunately) re-bought it on PC when I realized that my expansion doesn’t carry over between platforms. That definitely sucks, especially since I’m unemployed right now and don’t want to buy said expansion for a third time on PlayStation since I don’t have Game Pass right now and would prefer running on a stable build.

Not to detour too much, but all of this is to say that I love this game and really REALLY wished that it was stable so that I can keep enjoying Season 7 at the volume that I’d desire. It looks like you guys have a lot of cool things going on in the Season of Witchcraft and I’ve already gotten my Spiritborn to P(126), even with juggling tons of job applications, interviews and a ton of Marvel Rivals competitive play. Please assess this instability on PC and 1) provide some transparency on the matter and 2) deploy a hotfix/general update at your earliest convenience.

For reference, my error code this time around is:

Have an amazing day/night, wherever you are.
