Hi everyone,
Just wondering how people manage their mana if using the ice shards/burning build.
I’ve mostly followed a guide at Icy Veins. Being level 51 I have half a dozen less skill points in the skill tree and only 6 paragon points so far.
I am finding that quite often I still have close to zero mana if I fire off ice shard 3 or 4 times quickly.
So far I have kept Frost Bolt on hotbar so at least I can cast something when low on mana, and also for (4 mana) Glinting Frost Bolt. Watching streamers I notice their mana hardly drops at all, and most have flame shield on left click whereas I seem forced to use Frostbolt.
I do realise that most streamers have top end gear and aspects etc, and a lot of paragon points. But i had hoped my mana issue would start to improve over the past 15 or so level-ups, but that doesnt seem to be happening.
If anyone had any thoughts or suggestions to share I would be really grateful.
PS: I know it would help if i could provide more info, but Im unsure how to share/link my character and skill tree etc. Is there an option with D4 similar to how we could view our characters on this forum similar to D3?
Cheers and thank you
Its gear mostly. There is gear with resource generation, +mana, lucky hit resource. Then there are aspects with resource gen. I forgot what its called but I have an aspect that gives me resource gen when not damaged. That helps a lot because I almost always have a barrier on so not being damaged. Im not quite infinite like the streamers yet but I am still building gear and leveling. I can definitely spam more than the 3-4 times you can earlier in game.

also I forgot… look into aspect of the umbral too. It’s a rare drop but it restores 1-4 of primary resource when you cc. Doesn’t sound like a lot but you are cc’ing all the time as ice shards. Chill is cc, frozen is cc. You can get the codex version but its only 1 so not as good as a dropped 4.

- Aspect of the Umbral (+4 Mana when you CC an enemy)
- Glacial Aspect (Avalanche key passive gives 2 stacks)
- Chance on Lucky Hit: Regenerate primary resource
- Lucky Hit % chance
These aspects and stats will be your primary source of mana. The more lucky hit you have, the less likely you are to run out. However, there will still be times where you have to stop casting for a second or two to regen mana (especially on single target) because resource regen is honestly pretty undertuned right now. But increased lucky hit % will make these moments less likely.

Mana cost reduction and + mana + resource generation in gear… aspect that gives 25 on cooldown.
