Any of these listings… that give us fun challenges and achievements to do regarding renown quests, instead of a useless mmo feature that it appears many did not care for.
Adding cosmetics to unlock through actual gameplay, past a lot of the stale and purposefully boring cosmetics, that came with the game to push people to buy cosmetics.
timed challenges - accomplish this task within the limit. (Repeatables)
renown races… race on your horse through multiple checkpoints against other players.
ways to earn boss summoning materials by completing renown challenges.
Anything that could make it less useless, and potentially open the game to a more freeing experience. Potentially allowing players to decide their paths and gameplay styles rather than be forced into specific areas of the game they want to avoid.
Any of these listings could reward us with: cosmetics, opals, boss summon materials, ways to farm gold, ways to farm other specific materials. Like this or don’t, I don’t care.
Imo, they should remove the paragon points from renown and replace them with cosmetics (new ones each season). Doing renown for paragon points feels like a mandatory chore, doing it for the option of an extra cosmetic instead would be better.
I mean that’s great and all but kind of a moot point to the majority of people playing at the moment. Since obviously you complete renown once and it’s over. This would apply to the trickle of people buying the game now.
While your ideas aren’t bad I feel they could implement them into other mechanics not associated with renown for the same affect.
Yea the idea is convert useless renown quests into fun activities that provide resources that we can use, specifically want. Other avenues to achieve same goals essentially, but in a manor that more people could find fun, and retain players longer.
My bad, been a while since i played. Forgot it was a “one and done” system.
But that said, it still seems dumb. “Do this one thing on your first character, and forever more your future characters will be more powerful. No more fresh character starts, woo!”
I agree with all of this. Blizzard’s biggest mistake with Renown was adding skill points and paragon points to the system. This made something that was meant to be fun mandatory in order to unlock your character’s full power. Making fun mandatory isn’t fun. Its tedious. The reason endgame systems can get away with it is because they are endgame systems. Not reputation grinds.
How about I add something to this list. Renown is basically your character building up reputation in an area. How about once you hit max renown, vendors give you a discount on items in their shop. Also hitting max renown unlocks some activity to do in each zone. Whether that is horse racing in the desert, a secret dungeon that has several floors and exclusive cosmetics, or timed challenges that give a bag of random uber boss summoning materials.
I reckon…on Character creation, pick a capital city like Gea Kul or one of the others. as your renown increases you receive rewards like, city themed cosmetics, a trophy, discount on Goods & Services within that city (like, salvage returns, discount on vendors etc).
Ya that’s cool and stuff. I’m just uncomfortable with the idea of new characters inheriting powers from a previous playthrough. Handing down gear feels fine, handing down paragon points just seems odd. But if people like it, no need to change it just for me.
Easiest fun to add to renown would be new seasonal renown rewards you could earn. Give me a giant cache of forgotten souls and herbs. I don’t care. Anything.
