Make progression meaningful!

All the hard work that Blizz has put into season 8 has been fully usurped by RMT and duping boss keys, currency etc. I watched the Campfire chat on how the devs were pleased was with how the progress of season 8 was going to be. Including collecting boss mats materials etc. Well sadly this is not the case.

Why play the game when the materials, gold boss mats etc can be purchased on RMT sites. (These items were already being duped from the start!).

Finding and collecting boss mats etc was supposed to be another lure of season 8. Simply put reward mats need to be account bound. Rewards only tradeable within the group that opened the loot cache within 2 hours. No different with other games where the players have to have keys for dungeons or access other content.

Moving up in torment need to be a solo achievement. Not hunkering and at the entrance while someone else does it for you. (Same mechanic was in D3 when you moved up). Run more content, get gear and have a go! Not cowering in a doorway and someone else does it for you! (Fake progression)

This season looks fun but has been mongrelized to its core by outside forces, and its being allowed. Additionally progression means absolutely nothing when you can have someone else do it for you. (Hard truth).

I say this with peace and love

You could… like… not pay Real money for an in game item and do it yourself.

This is an option in the game.

Yes I want a solo mode, but we work with what we are given and you can do it all alone without trading. Or engaging in RMT of any kind.

I’m not disagreeing with the OP. I’m just going to say that as someone who plays exclusively solo & who never even looks at the chat, much less the trade channel, I literally couldn’t care less what other people do; they’re not affecting me.

Meanwhile, people say “O but Blizz pays attention to what enters the game & will control what drops as a result of RMT & so on” & all I can say is “Who cares?” More than enough drops for you to run your precious build to 99.999999% efficiency. For the people who have to push that last 0.0.0.8% power increase, you mean as much to me as getting a new hole drilled in my head.

They can’t fix duping because it’s linked to the coding for stacked items. It’s been in the game since S2 or S3, and can’t be removed. Any item that stacks in inventory can be duped. Runes, gems, boss materials, potions, etc.

They could simply remove stacked items and relegate them to the Materials Tabs, but thus far they have been unwilling or unable to do so. Even gems that got moved have the ability to get moved back to the inventory in order to socket them.

Boss Materials on the other hand, have zero business being in inventory in the first place. There’s zero reason to interact with them, except when at a boss altar/chest and they simply get taken out of inventory anyways.

Indeed, & until S8 they hadn’t substantially altered drop rates – in fact, in S7, despite the presence of duping, we got SHOWERED with loot – which causes me to suspect the claim Blizz adjusts drop rates based on what enters the game via RMT & so on isn’t true.

I don’t disagree, but a change like that would cause howls of protest from those who insist they like sharing boss mats with people who don’t have them. Unless it was coded so those materials could only be taken out of inventory in a boss lair I’ve a feeling it would be extremely unpopular.

OTOH, people would likely get over it & adjust their gaming, so it likely wouldn’t be a disaster, either; just page after page of whining here on the forum.

As long as there is trading. There will be RMT taking advantage of people who want to only play well made characters.

It’s a million dollar business. Devs cant do anything about it. I like how people always spam the forums of these games (it’s the same in every mmorpg or arpg with trading) thinking devs can just push some buttons to take care of it.

No. They dont get paid for that. There is no gain for them doing it. It’s literally a waste of money. Especially for blizzard scratching every single penny until it’s polished like a billionares lambo.

They all do the bare minimum to ban chat spammers that is also just a endless hamster wheel and thats it.

At least nobody here accusses the devs of hosting the rmt sites themselfs like most of the smoothbrains in poe 2 forums.

To be a little bit fair…

They did host one at one point. Inside of Diablo 3 :stuck_out_tongue:

Actually… I’ve seen this many times here lol.

or why even collect mats at all.

Just make a cool dungeon and let the boss come at the end. Oldschool.

And don’T say “I don’t wanna run a dungeon every time” cause that way you do not ahve to farm any Mats at all. I rather run a dungeon every time to a boss instead of running around doing nonsense quests to gather boss mats.

Also a boss at the end of a dungeon is much more lore friendly then the summoning.

WHY DO WE SUMMON A DEMON… It makes no sense. Getting rid of demons is what diablo is about.

From the corner for THREEEEEEEEE!!!

+10000 Internets, right there. I hadn’t realized until I read this post – just one more reason why D3 is superior. Go to dungeon, fight through dungeon, kill boss, get loots. Go back out, refresh, do it again if you like.

I guess they couldn’t figure out how to do that with their MMO Lite design.

Yeah this is a thing in just about every single online game with multiplayer built in.

oh god yea. there was this rumor in d2 times going on that one of their devs would be involved into this lol.

but yea, as others have said, they cant do a whole lot on this. I mean, considering how creative the advertisements become its clear that they are making sure, or trying to make sure, that the chat filters blatant adverts. So far i cant say i didnt see super many in trade chat.

as for getting rid of rmt entirely, well, good luck in that fight. These sites arent really breaking a law. They are just breaking the EULA. So if blizzard catches them, theyll get a ban, but this of course never happens instantly. Why would a person that RMts report the dude that sold him stuff?

No online game is safe from this. i wish it was different, but it isnt. Only thing you can do is adjust your perspective on this matter.

IT all boils down to 2 Set of people.

Those WHO enjoy finding cool items and those WHO enjoy owning cool items.

I am in the First Array. That IS why i never Had an issue with Trading or the AH or with dupers cheater and so on. I simply do Not Care for Others. I Just mind my own Business.

Some people are hellbent in how Other people have to Play i dont get IT.

I am the Last one defending cheaters but honestly in a Game Like Diablo i simply dont Care. I am Not competing anyone but the Game.

absolutely agree.

In competitive games its for sure a bigger issue, but it also comes up with consequences.

League of legends for exampled “forced us” to install a seperate program, the vanguard, that NEEDS to be running if you want to play LoL. If you close it, you will have to restart your pc lol. Just reopening it wont work. In my opinion pretty invasive, but yea, thats what it takes i guess to fight cheaters.

They could fix all the problems of duping by creating an Auction House. But call it something different like, “Trading Post”, to distance it from the debacle of RMT in D3.

All of the problems with trading stem from the attempt to allow client-to-client, real time trades to happen. By creating a service on the server side that would vanish. You could have “private” listings to allow trades with only one person. But they could actually get transactionally safe trade working.

But they’re either in capable or unwilling to create an actual service to facilitate secure trading. So we’re stuck with the broken garbage heap we have now.

idk i play without trading, try to get all my own drops, i have heard of the dupes, thats unfortunate.

More or less disable trade. I’m ok with that since it’s broken due to these issues being inadequately managed.

That would workable imo. Even if as an interim solution.

Apply same for caches which has come up in other topics.
