Make barbarian great again (how to DO it)

In this topic we discuss what we could probably help the dev team with.

In this post we dont discuss other Classes, only the fact that we might want to be brought up to THE same level as some other Classes. Comparison concludes - efficency vs pinnacle Bosses and Nightmare Dungeons.

Blizzard wont be balancing in the aspect of PvP “thank god”.

Make sure to fill where i miss My might barbarian brothers.

Hamstring talent. This needs to be reverted.
Bleed damage. You need to revert the old changes and include the new “flat One”

Sword critical strike damage bonus needs to be reverted. (We wont use axes or maces more) because they aint as viable in most certain builds.
You cant just Nerf that thing which works.
You need to fix those that aint appealing.

The current state goes that we are all FELT forced to play HoTA spec in the higher end. This needs to be adressed.

Help me out barbs. Give me/Blizzard every idea regarding how we could make us great and fun again.

This is true, feels like the only viable Barb build is HoTA.

Figured I’ll try double swing Barb with steel grasp this ssn. world tier 2 was ok, as soon as I stepped into wt3 life started sucking hard.

While my berserk uptime can be 100%, I need 30-40 double swings and a few mins trying to kill an elite? Fkn lol

Bleed aspects are bugged AF, pretty sure the aspect that gives unstoppable when injured is bugged too. Wrath of the berserker feels like it doesn’t stack the +25% bonus for every 50 fury. Feels like the only viable double swing option at the moment is with thorns, and even then I suspect it’s going to be ‘livable’ at best.

Feels like a complete waste of time playing at this point, since it more frustration than fun.

Good job with testing blizzard devs, game actually feels like poop at this point. I can only wonder how painful wt4 will be since I can’t see myself sticking around to find out.

The devs have already said they are focussing on sorc first for next patch. We might get some bug fixes but thats about it.

Makes sense sinse sorc is the weakest, class has been awful since the release of the game.

Go away from this thread PLEASE. Read above.
The devs told they were LOOKING at barbarian aswell.

Yeah, this is why i made this thread. We were not even fine pre-patch. Other than HoTA build.

Wrong.

They said they were looking at both sorcs and barbs.

You are a cancer to the Barb forums.

And yet they were able to kill Uber Lilith faster than Barb lol

I rolled a Bone Spear Necro for Season 1. It’s a joke how much easier it is than Barb and there are structural reasons for this. Bone Spear (and Bone Splinters) apply Vulnerable on EVERY CAST, not once per 20 seconds. This isn’t a glyph or a bug, it’s literally how the skill was designed. And they can spam these skills from a screen away.

Necros can easily approach or get to 100% crit chance. They have at least 6 different paragon nodes and aspects that apply 15-30%x global multipliers. It’s so obvious why Barb is way behind in terms of DPS.

I’ve played barb since Diablo HF, so 97/98ish. Got all characters to 99 in D2, but barb was always my main. Same with D3, but I didn’t enjoy it anywhere near as much. I’ve got a 100 WW Barb in eternal, and I can safely say I feel a HUGE difference in survivability and damage. I’ve messed around with a few builds, played with some on maxroll and icyveins, nothing really helps. It definitely feels like a grind and I’m only level 40 in season…

IMO top needs

  1. Movement as a weapon - leap + charge

  2. Nukes - see what kick has, give us more of that

  3. Get stronger as battle rages - give us something like Bane of the Stricken from D3

  4. Life per fury spent in greater abundance for sustain

Same with Rogue, tbh. I’m playing Rogue this season, and it’s 1000x easier than my first playthrough as a Barb. Even with Rogue naturally having less defenses, they just do so much more damage, and their kit has so much better synergy.

Anyone else feels some skills/talents thoughts should be brought to light? Leave em in here !

ASAP, only 5 barbarians are in the top 100, this is ridiculous
top 10 has 4 sorcerers lol

Core skills - double swing and rend need an aoe legendary aspect or a significant damage buff. Hota still deals more single target damage than both of these and it has the quake aspect which makes it a decent sized aoe ability. Using the other options is like playing the game with one hand.

Shouts - 3 feel mandatory for fury generation and survivability, and the fact that they all reduce the cd of each other, so you have to play all 3. Combine rallying and war cry into one shout and reduce the cooldown of it and challenging shout to compensate. Opens up an additional skill for every Barb build while not killing our shout uptime.

Mastery skills - main issue is the animation time of these skills. All 3 of these skills seem to make your character pause and take an extra global before the ability goes off. It’s a waste of time to use these skills in most cases.

Passives - unbridled rage is a 2.3 multiplier. This is the only option if you need the damage. The other options are significantly weaker and don’t offer anywhere close to a 2.3 damage multiplier. The negative of the double fury cost isn’t a problem since we gen so much fury during our shouts.

Aspects - all flat number damage aspects - like dust devils, need a redesign. They have to scale with something beyond ilvl at end game or they’re completely worthless. I’m hitting for 800k+ with hotas, a 5k dust devil isn’t good design. Please don’t simply increase these AGAIN without a redesign. Dust devils buffed by 100% are still bad and won’t be used.

Uniques - change the stats on these items. Ghors shouldn’t have attack speed. Weapons should have vuln and crit damage on them. Several of our uniques are flat numbers and have the same issue as the above point. These need to scale off of more than ilvl.

Not sure if this is discussed already and it may not be super prevalent for END game builds, but I really enjoy trying to make LeapQuake work as well as possible.

It got me thinking to why is the key aspect to make bleeding crit only apply to bleeds and not just all of our damage over time.

I don’t see why not other than the fact that it kind of ‘fits’ the lore of the barbarian more that way. Having said that, the vast majority of people aren’t going to really care about that at the end of the day. I also don’t see how it could be abused or anything. We can’t exactly stack tons of different DoTs and achieve broken damage that way or something. If you’re a bleeding build then pretty much all of your skills and aspects are already going towards bleeding damage.

Making it so that key aspect apllied to all of our DoTs would go a long way toward making LeapQuake much more viable without having to really overhaul that much. Or just make it apply to all physical damage over time at least. I imagine that would be easier and the earthquakes are already physical. I love the build it just gets harder and harder to scale it’s damage.

I have avoided the forums until now so if this is discussed somewhere already I apologize. I just saw this thread and it seemed appropriate to mention here I suppose.

I’ve seen a lot of other specific suggestions to skills so aside from my post above I will make one suggestion relating to Leap.

The fury gain should be inherit on Leap, and in place of the fury gain leap passive make it do something more utility based. Like an aoe pull in or something.
