[Main Thread] PC - Game Client Freezes at "Logging into Diablo IV" When Launched on Certain NVMe Drives

CrystalDiskMark’s downloads quadrupled (as barb dmg) after the release of D4. TOP KEK. Worked for me GL boyz, (still getting random ingame crashes but its playable)

Hey i just tried it and it worked for me also. If you or anyone else reading this make sure you’re testing the drive that has D4 installed on it. Hope it helps.

Still not normal that we have to try those absurd solution only to play a game we paid for.
I have a bad internet connection, and took me several hours to download the game, i will not re install it on a different device. They should find a solution, not us
BTW tried the crystal mark method but didn’t help, i’m done

2tb samsung nvme got games
All storage on pc is nvmes

Im having exact same issue. Ive went through prolly 20 threads doing all suggestions and no luck. Its literally blind luck to get past the login screen. Ive tried every trick in my 20 years of pc gaming arsenal and blah.

To the admin replying. This is 1000000% a bug thousands of us are experiencing. This was even a bug during beta. How was this not fixed… how would you feel dropping 100 for a game just to get early access just to run into a bug that should have been fixed weeks before launch. Giving us the same verbal diarrhea recorded text aupport responses is doodoo. Go through the forums. Lots of people are having an issue with this.

I read patch release a few mins ago and thought for sure it was addressing this issue. Nope adding health to eneimes and fixing a few non game breaking character bugs while a whole crowd of us are over here playing whack a mole at startup ghetto rigging every setting we can think of to get your game fo launch on high end gear. Again doo doo…

Same issue here, no blizzard move on that part ?

Moving game to HDD somehow helped me.
CrystalDiskMark didn’t help.

Blizzard hasn’t even acknowledged the problem. What a joke.

This is really frustrating. I used to cut them some slack, as development is hard, but this is just ridiculous at this point.

Tried everything and nothing worked out.
Then i installed the game to an external SSD drive and it worked…

WTF

I am having the same issue, first I see a gray screen, then the game freezes at the Blizzard logo, and Diablo 4 crashes.

100% this is some kind of bug with some specific hardware. Something they have done between the beta and full release, because I’ve played on the beta, with the same computer/hardware, installed on my nvme, and I played just fine, now on the release I cant. Please Blizzard, fix the issue, or at least say you are looking into it… Saying this is not a game bug, when hundreds of us are reporting the same issue, is not a good call.

EDIT: Running CrystalMark, or moving the game from an nvme to an ssd fix the issue for me.

Was the same problem from Early Access start - stacking on Logging screen. Few minutes ago I changed the game folder with file transfer from disk D (SSD) to disck C (SSD) , where Battle.Net installed, to another folder. Its help, playing now. Try and enjoy!

Un-installed and reinstalled on external SSD - game works now - not sure if coincidence or if they fixed it. Anyone try running game on normal hardrive?

So I tried changing the DisableChromaEffects “0” to “1” and I’ve got to character selection. Then it crashed again and now I’m back where the game crashing while logging in…

I’m glad I preordered and payed extra $20 to experience these crashes…thank you so much Blizzard!!!

Donno if it will help anyone but I installed to my 2nd nvme and launched mid download (while it was “playable”) and it seems to work just fine for now.

I’m ON a 6 year old SSD and its still not working.

So what fixed it for me was to move the game from second ssd to main ssd (C). For some reason it works now

This is the reply I got from Blizzard just now. I’m at work so not sure if this will fix it, but worth a shot:

Tech Specialist Rainmithwen at your service! I understand that D4 is crashing immediately after launch . I understand how disheartening it can be when nothing is working but never fear I have an excellent idea of what’s happening!

When D4 starts crashing at startup it’s almost always caused by Razer software.

Below are the steps that will correct this error.

• We’ve found that Razer Chroma & Synapse features have been conflicting with our games. We’re going to want to try updating Synapse 3 to install the most recent version of Chroma SDK, and then remove all Razer software if the game continues to have problems. The steps below will guide you through this process:

First let’s try disabling the Chroma piece. Run Razer Synapse 3. Go to the Modules tab, make sure that the chrome connect module has been installed (may need the app to restart). Navigate to the connect tab and toggle off “enable this app” on the right. If Synapse 3 isn’t installed you can install it and do this step as well.

Retest the game.

If the above doesn’t work attach your Chroma compatible device and install Razer Synapse 3. If you no longer have your Chroma device, please contact Razer for assistance.

Retest the game.

If that doesn’t work, uninstall all Razer software including your current build of Razer Chroma SDK Core Components. If you run into problems removing the software, please contact Razer for assistance as they are aware of these uninstall issues.

Retest the game

I don’t. Have. Razer.

They said this too during Server Slam and I did not have Razer then. I do not have Razer now.

I froze also during the “logging to diablo 4” after the queues.
I managed to play without any issue this morning then I stopped the game.
Canno’t play anymore now… Stuck to this issue…
