did nothing different at all. and it eventually just worked.
sadly disabling index didn’t help me either, AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT, AMD Ryzen 5 5600 Win 11 32 GB
I have the same problem. Tried everything. I am using a top of the line Alienware so i know its a blizzard problem
Nevermind, problem is back, so i don’t think it was the solution
Problem is sort-of fixed for me. If I can click at the start of the Diablo IV logo coming up at just the right moment, it will advance and I can get into the game. If I miss it, its a crash.
What ultimately fixed it was right clicking the folder and unchecking the “Allow files on this drive to have context indexed” under properties. I even moved my nvidia driver up to the current version and it still functions the same – which is to say poorly, but at least I am getting somewhere, whereas before it was just a constant crash.
Unfortunately after sinking hours into the issue I no longer really want to even play lol.
So a list so far on what has fixed for people, though not for all people:
Right click Diablo IV folder in Documents and Diablo IV - Server Slam under C: (or main installed drive) and choose properties, advanced, and if compression is checked, uncheck it.
Right click Diablo IV folder in Documents and Diablo IV - Server Slam under C: (or main installed drive) and choose properties, advanced, and if context index is checked, uncheck it.
Rollback graphics drivers.
Go to Documents > Diablo IV > LocalPrefs and change DisableChromaEffects to 1.
Close or update Razer Synapse, Logitech Hub, Corsair, etc.
Check to make sure windows updates are installed, including optional updates.
Unplug unnecessary or failing peripherals from PC USB.
Try to start the game without Chrome/any browsers open.
I had same error from the logs about polling the audio devices:
2023.05.13 01:52:15.578611 [Game] [wWisePlatform] Polling audio devices complete. Found: 26 Default: ‘XB271HU (NVIDIA High Definition Audio)’
…my default audio was set to my display in Windows 11 when launching. I changed default audio output to my headset, and it worked. Looks like the game is getting hung up trying to switch audio devices.
I think I figured it out! Close google chrome while launching the game!!! this has fixed it 100% for me. feel free to open it back up once you get in the game!
Oh that’s possible. Where did you change it? I could never get far enough in to access the menu and check.
Alas did not work for me when I tried it. But its another for the list of things to try.
What’s your error log saying?
Mine is at the top in a pastebin. I derped and logged into the wrong bnet account, the one I used to use to play comp overwatch without my friends/team. It doesn’t say much, really.
In my case (or actually in my wife’s case) looks like installing firewall software (i.e. Bitdefender Total Security) helped. Previously, using Windows Defender, all the symptoms were just as described by everyone in this topic. After installing BitDefender so far got into the game 5 times in a row. We’ll see what happens in the morning.
What is especially curious, is that I have basically the same PC in terms of specs (different GPU, but I don’t think that’s the factor here) and I have no problems at all, using Windows Defender to boot.
Is the most recent log error still “[Game] ChromaCorsair initialized” even after all of that has been uninstalled?
Tried all the above none work.
Got in for an hour yesterday after a heap of attempts. Eventually froze and now can’t get passed frozen splash screen now. This needs a fix or alot of PC players will want their money back.
idk but probably not. I was in earlier then had to stop/leave for life stuff.
I played the previous beta test on my PS5, and I like this game. To have a better game experience, I bought a new PC for Diablo 4. But I can’t even get into the game this time. stuck on either the grey screen or the logo screen. Tried everything listed in this thread, but none work for me. I hope we can have an official way to fix it. I would not pre-order the game if it is still an issue.
My CPU is Ryzen 7 5800X, and my GPU is 3080.
Only way i’ve gotten the game to get past the login screen is by enabling safemode in the config file by changing the 0 to 1, the game loaded and like the config file showed, the new client isnt recognizing monitor, etc from windows, refresh rate, etc is blank or showing as “-1” like in config, settings menu runs smooth, game runs at like 1 fps, outside of forcing safemode the current client freezes everytime it tries to play the new logo screen or grey screens
I’ve had success by rebooting and launching D4 immediately, otherwise I get the same crash. Logs seem to end on:
[Game] ptCutscene->m_eCutsceneState: PLAYBACK
Ryzen 9 6900HX, NVIDIA 3070 Ti (the combination of an AMD processor/GeForce graphics card seems to be a common theme in this thread!).

Here is a new pastebin off of a different attempted start (most recent as of post).
Getting hung on sound.
