The later versions of NVidia drivers has issues with D4
I downgraded to version 531.41 for RTX3060Ti, it’s been stable and no more crashing.
You can try a little more later versions to see if it helps. as long as it’s not the latest version. (Redfall version 531.79 has issue with D4)
So before starting the game, I didn’t care if there will be a queue and I took the time to install Nvidia’s latest update.
Then the game had a small update and then … Grey screen with the mouse showing the hourglass.
No way to close the game except by using task manager.
I try again, I see the logo and then stuck at “logging into diablo” message screen. (the loading circle doesn’t move).
Now after many tries it’s either grey screen or stuck at loading…
It’s not a crash and it’s not a pc performance issue as the game window doesn’t show “not responding” message.
I tried repairing the game but nothing works…
I have RTX3060 Laptop version.
Anyone had this issue ?

We’ve found that Razer Chroma & Synapse features often cause a grey screen with all Diablo. We’re going to want to try updating Synapse 3 to install the most recent version of Chroma SDK, and then remove all Razer software if the game continues to have problems

Sadly I dont think that’s my issue. I don’t have any razer software.
Edit : I also tried waiting and left for a walk for about an hour and was still stuck on that loading message. (Logging into diablo IV)

We have identified a few things that might assist with getting Diablo 4 to stop crashing.
If you are getting an error after being disconnected from the server sign out of the game and app for 15 minutes before trying to play again.
Bit Defender has been causing strange issues with a few games including Diablo 4. Try creating a firewall exclusion/exception for Battle.net and the game. Also updating/uninstalling can help if the exclusion/exception doesn’t help.

1 . I don’t have that error… as stated before
2. No bit defender on my PC. (No antivirus no firewall at all)
3. I have 16 Gb RAM / RTX3060 / Intel(R) Core™ i7-10870H CPU @ 2.20GHz Win 11
4. Drivers + windows already up to date
I believe I may have the same or similar issue. Can’t launch the game, I just get an endless grey screen. No error messages. Nothing happens. I can only close it down with task manager.
Another try and I got the DIABLO logo on the screen shortly… Then it froze (no response).
3rd try, I clicked quickly to pass the DIABLO logo cinematic and got to the logging into diablo IV menu… Where it’s frozen yet again.
I did not have this issue during beta.
RTX3070, i7 CPU, Win11, newer Legion laptop.

I’m not sure if this is related to the Razer Chroma issue (even though I don’t have any Razer hardware nor software).
4th attempt was the charm. This time I “got through” . So weird. Creating character now…
Edit: Nope! Froze again as I was about to enter character creation.
I had a similar issue and it was caused by the game not correctly handling bypass io. Check to see if you game is logging the following under system in event logs.
File System Filter ‘atc’ (Version 10.0, 2023-02-16T07:23:12.000000000Z) vetoed bypass IO.
Process: Diablo IV.exe
File: D:\Program Files (x86)\Diablo IV - Beta\Data\data\data.073

From an elevated prompt I ran

This showed “Storage Driver: Not BypassIo Compatible”
My issue was that I had cache turned on for my Crucial drive via Crucial storage executive. Id suggest looking for a similar issue.
Same problem here. Updated drivers. RTX 3070.
7 tries later and I’m in. Just kept trying until it worked. Didn’t change anything. So weird.

I had a grey screen.
I checked system events log and I don’t have that.
Edit : I installed some optional update about .Net framework and restarted my PC and it finally worked.
Well, i have the lastes update Nvidia Everything was fine, I was able to see the cutscene, make character choices, choose colors, etc… on the second cutscene to enter the game, it got blocked, since then it doesn’t exit the Diablo logo

Disable “momentumCache” and all works well…
I mean I tried again since abaddon said he kept trying until it worked. I just mentioned what’s the latest thing I did.
But I’m sure it might be something like the Cache as you mentioned or some more technical issue. I hope it will work for you guys.

I have BypassIo Compatible
Momentum Cache is turned off. I wonder if I have to turn it on.
Stuck at grey scree, but able to solve it after i closed my nahimic software.
I am having this problem as well, if I start the game and leave it alone it will instantly go to a non-responding grey screen. I found out of frustration however that if I rapidly start clicking and continue clicking anywhere in the screen through the loading when the grey screen comes up, i can 99% of the time get to the character select screen and not have any problems past that point.
I’ve tried previous suggestions I’ve found in this thread and others with no change. The only thing that works is rapidly clicking until i’m on the character select screen.
I’m so glad I decided not to pre-purchase.
