If you want an official answer, why are you asking strangers on a forum?

NOT being mean, I’m just wondering.

You will never get something official here. Never. The only thing you can do is trying to tag Adam Fletcher on twitter. They are like youtube. Only twitter can help.

Their tos practically forbids it, it’s a standard legal letter everyone uses and everyone breaks somehow. That said. As long as you dont inject code into d4… dont tinker with their files… just using a mild macro. They dont have the anti cheat measures to catch that.

Hell… this game is flouded with people breaking tos.

No streamer got banned or said to stop using it despite blizzard having an eye on most of the popular ones like raxx, rob etc.

The only thing I can that if you Have to Ask, it’s probably not a good idea. Anyone (especially here) can give you the wrong answer.

Question is DO you Need to use …eh Macros… (A macro?)

i have diasbilities on my hands, i cant cast that fast, so i use macros for the last 15 years, i need an official answer…

There was an answer in the past about macros/third party software. It is illegal according to TOS but … if You’ll be banned? I doubt it.

Is there anyone here who gets banned for macros (and really, for macros, not other stuff)? I also doubt it

if you are a streamer to make them money, yes you can use it. If you are some poor common player - no, it will get your account banned

The “official” unofficial stance is, one input = one output. Anything outside of that could be determined to be “automation”.

In short, yes. Stupidly pressing a button every second and then playing for a few hours at a time is bad for your health. It really hurts my fingers.

A good rule of thumb is one button press=one in game action.

Anything more than that probably is risky IMO.

Evade Spiritborn spotted

I tried that build, but it’s tough not being able to hold down evade like you can with other skills. I’m back to the Quill build.

Oh god, here we go again

NO, unless you are a streamer you’re not allowed to use macros, if you are a streamer you can macro whatever you want on live and nobody gives any f whatsoever

No, I don’t play Spiritboorn. I actually meant that more in general.
3600 keystrokes per hour is no challenge at all. It only harms your health, so it doesn’t matter whether you use a macro or not. That’s how I see it anyway

What I have been told is, “one keypress, one function.” However, with that being said, when I played wow i would string my attack button to pet assist as well. I never got banned for it.

If you are not a streamer, you are not allowed. That’s my official answer.

Yes it’s allowed, Blizzard does not care. I had one for Ball Lightning in Season 2. Using a macro isn’t exploiting the game.

you wont get an official answer. but they are against tos if you actually read the tos.

Cheating

You are responsible for how you and your account are represented in the game world. Cheating in any fashion will result in immediate action. Using third-party programs to automate any facet of the game, exploiting bugs, or engaging in any activity that grants an unfair advantage is considered cheating.

Exploiting other players is an equally serious offense. Scamming, account sharing, win-trading, and anything else that may degrade the gaming experience for other players will receive harsh penalties.

macros are against the ToS I wouldn’t post an admission on the official blizzard forums

Blizzard does not allow automation of any portion of their games. That includes things like skill rotations, vendor interactions, etc.

Using a macro to do something outside the game, that you can’t do using in-game tools like string together attacks, would be considered automation. WoW has an in-game macro maker that works within what Blizz allows to be done - you can’t automate a skill rotation. Their other games don’t have that and even in WoW, outside macros get people banned.

Someone doing that puts their account at risk of account actions, up to and including license closure.

Just because your software or hardware CAN do something, does not mean you SHOULD do it.

… That is not true. Many people have been suspended or banned in WoW for use of macros to automate skill rotations. Other games too. They can indeed detect it. They monitor everything we do that touches the game, and anything on our computer in active memory when the game is running.

  • Is it against the rules to automate a skill rotation? YES

  • Can it be detected by Blizzard? YES

  • Will they actually DO something about it when they detect it? UNKNOWN
