I would love to play on my shiny new Mac.
It’ll cost roughly $133 Million to get convince them to make a Mac version. Now you may think this is an odd number, but let’s break it down. D4 has sold roughly over 10m copies, which is over $666m in sales alone. Mac users would have to equate for 20% in sales to make it worthwhile to remake the game to run on Mac hardware.
Now seeing as Blizzard is now owned by Microsoft as well, I don’t see this happening anytime in the new future. Thanks for playing though, in the meantime here’s a
for your efforts.
“would you buy a boat to race in formula-1?” no, gamers dont buy macs, people buy macs… because…
i don’t have the answer to that, i tried going mac and it was a horrible mistake, never did it again
microsoft bought the company, why would the format for a competitor
or is this a meme post about whoopie ??
most celebs (including internet celebs) buy into apple… celebs buy macs and internet celebs buy iphones
they all claim its more secure and works better
(lol) whispers… its a status symbol
put a windows partition on your mac and play it on the windows partition.
get a real computer.
Bootcamp is not a thing with M-chip based macs. You can get a few games to run, but it’s emulation on top of emulation with no native hardware drivers. It’s not worth bothering at the moment for actually playing games, and more of a project of love to say that you did it.
I hope you didn’t buy that with the hope you could play D4 on it.
Cause if you did…oh boy.
Playing right now on M1 MBP using Crossover - runs beautifully.
We have very different standards on what “runs beautifully” means.
Was pointing out that your statement here isn’t true. Wine/Crossover isn’t emulation. I wouldn’t buy a Mac for gaming, obviously, and wouldn’t advise it. But for those that already have one and don’t want to buy another system, it works. And yes, D4 runs beautifully for me, with settings on High and a consistent 60 fps.
On Apple silicon, you don’t need Crossover or Parallels to run.
Apple released their Game Porting Toolkit, and if you take a look at the macgaming reddit, you can find out how to install it and start slaying D4 demons.
Been doing it since launch!
Yep this is 100% true
I only mention Crossover because most here don’t know what GPTK is.
Whoopi is that you? ![]()
People buy macs because it’s a status/peer pressure thing. They don’t actually think the OS or hardware is better. They just think they look cool when they pull their laptop out and it isn’t a PC.
its actually more for not having issues with viruses. because the market share is much smaller most viruses arent even written to work on mac os. my wife is obsessed with her mac, i just let her be and enjoy my pc
My wife loves her mac too ![]()
I love my Mac too, but I wanted to play certain games so I bought a gaming laptop on sale last year and it works great.
You can play D4 on a new Mac, but there are steps to take with the porting kit that is included. You will have to Google it to find it.
You’re right it’s not emulation. It’s a translation layer, and like interpreter based coding languages that translation slows things down. However the fact remains that this has to be specifically coded on a game by game basis by a third party and the result is far from perfect. Making the distinction is really just splitting hairs as there is little functional difference to the layman.
