< Rant On > I don’t know who thought making the drop rates in Diablo 4 as low as 1% to 5% was a good idea, but that person or persons are missing the point. Diablo 4 is not World of WarCraft nor should it be. But the drop rates have become insane. Legendary Runes, Heads for the seasonal content and the alters as well as gems has tipped into not being hard to get but almost impossible.
This has turned my enjoyment of this season from good to mad. If I put in the time and effort, I should be able to achieve my reward in a reasonable time. Blizzard, I am mad. And if you’re going to make drops rates this insane, I’m not going to have incentive to play your game like this. If it is not fixed very soon, you will lose more players to that other game. You know the one.
Really? How much “time” is this?
It’s on your character profile.
I find just the exact opposite of you. Drops are far too high and far too frequent this season. I’ve put in 16 hours on my Necro now. Here’s where I’m at:
Pit 100 cleared
All gear at least 1 GA, some 2 GA, 0 3 GA
2 Mythics found
Many Legendary Runes
4 Heads
4 Witch Altars/Powers
Multiple maxed Aspects, and those that aren’t maxed are nearly there
Now, you can say “bbuu…but… NECRO”, however it doesn’t change the fact of what I see. 16 hours is really a low amount of time imo, to have obtained all of that, especially compared to last Season.
If you have all this time that you speak of, you can easily play both - nobody is stopping you. But I think you’ll quickly find that time sinks on the Path are vastly higher than D4, especially at the endgame.
I’m far ahead of you on every count, playing another class, and yet I’m still in total agreement with the OP.
In the last two seasons Blizzard has both managed to create a system where you can target craft Mythics with Runes and then basically negated that possibility entirely unless you want to spend even more time doing nothing but converting Magic to Rare and then Rare to the possibility of Legendary or pay so not so great person a billion gold for one EOM on a non-sanctioned third party website.
Remember vampire powers? Remember how easy their were to find and max out? Remember how uniformly fun everyone thought that was?
So enjoyment of the season is dependant on getting everything the first week?
I have all the heads I need, only found one lost alter so far, but have scored some mythic before getting my gear all to GA’s, so at least I still have something to do next week.
Blizzard wanted to slow the race to Pit 150 so they purposely limited drops with the intention of buffing those items in a couple of weeks. While I’m still farming those items I’m concentrating on leveling glyphs and paragon levels.
The game is not slow, after 45 hrs I got everything completed including all glyphs to 100.
Never traded for anything. Played maybe half this time with a friend, so that got me the extra 10% group XP bonus, I guess. Friend played a different class so got no items from him.
That is very reasonable and even on the fast side.
The problem the game has is that instead of adding some fun activities and content so we can have 45 hrs of fun, they inflated time required to finish the season by grindy drops making half the time spent doing chores.
Also there is no aspirational bosses or content to look forward to after you finish your build.
Once you get all your mythical and masterwork to 12, there should be content where you can use your awesome gear… Something where you can get crazy OP rewards at low chance.
Pit 150 definitely is not it. Pits are just more grind instead of fun content.
I guarantee you these people who are posting multiple mythics and high runes, claiming sub 20 hours, are doing boss rotations where they sit in a boss room for 6+ hours spamming boss materials that they bought off other players.
The same conversation came up multiple times last season and every time you question these people it starts out as: “I was 100% solo” then as you keep talking to them, turns out they were playing with friends and doing boss rotations and getting fed gear others didnt need.
Even in the current state of the game, unless you’re using a bugged out build, there is no way you are less than 20 hours in and obtaining everything as a solo player.
They’re ignorant as to how the game actual plays, and it plays like a slog if you’re solo.
Well you see the trick is to get a build that can easily farm T4 with garbage gear. This will allow you to farm the stuff you need to get good gear so you can 1 shot everything with even bigger numbers.
absolutly noone will leave D4 for “that other game” if their reason is low droprates in D4.
they’d have an aneurysm in “that other game” with it’s current loot & “crafting” system.
I have yet to kill either Duriel or Andariel this Season (I can screenshot Season Journey if you’d like), and only killed Zir a few times for some Necro pants - and that was in T2.
I got 1 Mythic literally my first day, within about 6 hours. 1-60 was done in 4, entirely solo. I got a 2nd Mythic 3 days later. That’s two (which is multiple last I checked). The drops and entire Season are that fast.
I can take a screenshot of my /played from my character sheet if you’d like.
