Very often when mounting, there is a loud sound, sounds like a metallic tap or something, hard to describe. I play with lowered sound, but this seems to play at max volume.

Same here. PC VoH expansion.
Seems to be only be the new Viz-jun past mount. tried different mounts with my rogue, spirit born and Sorceress and it happened to all three characters when I changed to the Viz-jun past horse and disappeared when I changed to other mounts.
I run an Sound blaster ZXR PCI-e card, Fosi ZA3 external amp and B&W speakers.
Thru this set up, there is a few variations to the sound, it’s not consistent but it is much louder than than other sound effects and abrupt, maybe 0.2 seconds duration. My best guess is that it is part of the horses foot fall sound getting maxed out on volume and then being cut off abruptly.
