I have an idea which could greatly improve this game. Traditionally, Diablo games were largely about looting. It was mostly about finding some very rare and powerful items, or rare runes. There is a different approach, which might be very fruitful. The idea is to shift the focus to farming various materials and making BIS items using crafting. The focus would shift to an advanced crafting system. Players would farm dozens of different materials, using targeted runs in certain areas/dungeons/events. You would get all those materials in the material UI, so no inventory clutter. There would be different tiers of materials, for common to for ex. mythic. There would be also some materials which are much less numerous, for ex. dropping from hard bosses. There could also be a recipe system, and obtaining top recipes would be also not so easy. At the end, players who have tons of all kinds of materials and recipes, would be able to craft BIS items in the game. Ideally, I would like to get the Horadric Cube back, and use it for most of my crafting. With this kind of system, players would be encouraged to do targeted runs for materials, exploring the open world and revisiting various dungeons and bosses. During crafting, you would get a better chance of getting better rolls, when using MORE materials, than the recipe requires. This way players could run around, doing lots of different things, and getting closer and closer to crafting something amazing.
