Every season i am swimming in steel, however malignent hearts are in comparison a real chore to obtain. Wish they would make on par with how easy we can collect steel.
For hearts you can do regular dungeon but when clicking on the map you cant directly port there either, so a lot of travel time is involved as well. Doing helltide together with whispers doesnt yield the same hearts as steel u collect in 50minutes by a long shot either,
Long story short, farming helltide is quite fun since its dense and you can combine it with regular loots and usually with other progression systems. Farming hearts feels like a reel chore, boring and these are far harder to obtain at a decent pace.

The materials are pointless they should be removed or merged to have only one kind.
One type of material in currency tab and stygian stones in currency would be better.

It would be neat if they added a transmute option that allows you to transmute steels to hearts at a 1:1 ratio, and they could do something similar with bloods and fears.
Your best bet for farming hearts is to do whispers in a group. You have a significantly higher chance of spawning a grotesque debtor with 4 people compared to doing them by yourself. It sucks, but it’s another time where group play is preferable to solo play.

Just drop the god damn boss mats FFS.
Let me farm in peace

I’d rather they had a dungeon that also dropped good loot on the way that wasn’t all pure trash underleveled mobs…

At least Varshan only require Hearts now. RNG hates me. I’ll have 20+ of each hand, head, and bone but 3 hearts.

Ooh I love the idea of it being merged into just one material
Just remove all boss summoning matts, and change the altar to a ritual. You give it some of your blood to spawn the boss. You don’t need to farm anything, you can just spam the bosses as much as you want.
This is ultimately what we want.
Sure, let us farm stygian stones for uber bosses, they’re easy to get now with IH and it breaks up the monotony, but the other stuff is just unnecessary at this point.
Nobody enjoys the boss ladder farm.

If you’re trying to get Ubers then just farm the steel. It’s easy and Gregoire has the same chance to drop ubers. But yea if you need to target farm a boss some of the other materials are a real pain. I think blood and distilled fear need to come down to 5 for normal and 15 for tormented.

All well and good, but the drop rate is higher on Andariel and Duriel.
With the Beast drop rate issue, people have to farm normal beast for materials for Andariel, if he even drops it, and most people have 100x more Grigoire matts than Varshan, so neither of the best sources of Mythics are available really.
I’ve only done Andariel about 3 times and I don’t have more matts. I’ve done Duriel about 20, and Grigoire about 100. And i still don’t have matts for more Duriel because I’ve run out of Hearts.
If you want mythics, although Grigoire is the lesser of the evils to farm, it’s still not a good choice. And if you need a drop from Duriel, good luck.
For me it’s farming Equisite Blood to fight Zir for a winterglass. It’s one of the most boring possible chores they could come up with. Even with 3 mindcage stacks you will just delete all of the helltide with a decent build and the rate you get blood is astonishingly slow.
IMO make the blood maiden drop like 5 blood not just 1. I’ve seen her drop 3 blood a handful of times.

Perhaps I am wrong but I could have sworn all tormented bosses have the same 1.5% per roll and they roll 5 times. 4 of the 5 Uber drops I’ve had have all come from Gregoire. One was from beast in the ice.

I believe (but I could be wrong) that they buffed Duriel and Andariel drop rate and upped the other bosses to what Duriel and Andariel used to be.
still 5 hearts though, and from 1 whipser cache you get like 2 only…
A single mat would be amazing
Stacking beyond 50 would be nice…

Nah they standardised them all now, the drop rate is the same.

I understand the need to farm for the mats as it encourages engagement in other activities. However I very strongly believe that there needs to be a rebalance of how they’re all obtained. Some are very easy and consistent while others are more tedious and random. Also the amounts required for summoning should probably be better balanced toward the effort required to obtain them.
Here’s an outline of what it takes as far as I’ve seen:
Distilled Fear (27 required) - Grade: A (Easy)
- Most consistent method: High-tier NMDs (Nightmare Dungeons).
- Drop rate: You get 3 every time.
- Farming efficiency: Running 9 NMDs back-to-back, with each taking approximately 2 minutes, will get you 27 Distilled Fear in about 20 minutes.
- Other sources: Distilled Fear also drops randomly from other sources on occasion.
- Comparison: The required amount (27) is easily achievable within a short timeframe, making this one of the easiest materials to farm relative to the effort.
Living Steel (15 required) - Grade: B (Moderate)
- Most consistent method: Helltide chests.
- Drop rate: Each chest gives you 1 Living Steel, and the “Living Steel” chest gives you 6.
- Farming efficiency: The amount of Living Steel you get depends on how efficiently you run Helltide. In three 30-minute runs, I obtained 18 Living Steel in two runs and 26 in another.
- Comparison: The lower quantity required (15) makes it more manageable, but the variability in Helltide farming efficiency adds some challenge. It’s moderately difficult, but not overwhelming considering the amount needed.
Exquisite Blood (27 required) - Grade: C- (Moderate to Difficult)
- Most consistent method: Blood maiden kill.
- Drop rate: 1 guaranteed, occasionally more.
- Farming requirements: Requires Baneful Hearts, which need to be farmed from chests and elites in Helltide.
- Time and resource cost: Summoning the blood maiden takes 60 seconds, and more time is needed to defeat her. If no other players are around, you’ll need to contribute all 3 hearts to summon her. Exquisite Blood is occasionally obtained from other sources.
- Comparison: The required amount (27) is significant given the time and resource investment needed for each blood maiden encounter. The effort-to-reward ratio makes this one of the more challenging materials to farm, especially considering the multiple layers of farming required.
Malignant Hearts/Parts (15 required) - Grade: B (Moderate)
- Most consistent method: Whispers.
- Drop rate: You get at least 1 Malignant Part from each Whisper cache reward.
- Other sources: Malignant Parts can also drop from grotesque debtors, which spawn when a nearby player finishes a Whisper challenge. They also occasionally drop from elites.
- Comparison: While the required amount (15) is manageable, obtaining them through Whispers is quite tedious and time-consuming. The effort involved in farming enough Whispers to get 15 Malignant Hearts/Parts makes it moderately challenging, though still achievable with persistence.
I believe the amount required to summon each boss should better align with the effort and time needed to obtain the necessary materials. While I don’t think summoning materials should be eliminated entirely—since they play a crucial role in encouraging engagement with various activities—I strongly advocate for a rebalancing. An overall reasonable decrease in requirements across the board would improve the consistency between the effort invested and the rewards received, enhancing the overall experience.

I dont get it… Why dont we just remove materials required to summon ladder bosses and have mythic unique drop rates like 1/5,000. It’s a lot more fun to spam bosses over and over for a chance to get something good then to mindlessly do tasks in order to summon them for a 4x rota once every like 2-3 days. Also have the regular uniques like 1/200 1/600 or 1/800 depending on its tier.

You guys really don’t like Grinding huh?
Having the game too easy is just ridiculous.
The only thing I will say as a suggestion is that Hearts should drop as much as Steel in Hell tide (or) balance the 2 out.
At least when using the Living Steel to summon to get the shards you can do it back to back to back within the dungeon (depending on how fast you kill that stupid Grigore boss).
That isn’t the case anymore. All the bosses have the same drop rate. The reason to do specific bosses now is only if you are farming specific regular uniques.
