Came through my feed and decided I should give the heads-up
/PC Gamer article, apparently lost link privileges:
Sure enough, in a statement sent to PC Gamer, Blizzard confirmed that these outrageous damage numbers shouldn’t be happening.
“This behavior is unintentional,” a Blizzard rep said. “The team is looking at changing it in the near future in order to improve the balance.”
Personally, I think that if you can build it, you should be able to rock it, but it’s not really surprising that Blizzard wants to tamp the druids down a bit: Big numbers are fun, but it’s fair to say that this is a little out of hand. A more specific timeline on the potential change wasn’t provided, but I’d expect to see some sort of adjustment fairly soon—so enjoy the action while you can, Shred Druids.
Carthh had an 89 run posted that was a “neutral” dungeon. Wasn’t the greatest run ever but also he stated the gear wasn’t fully optimized.
It was likely more of a speed run build though as damage mitigation likely becomes a bit of an issue as Im not sure you’re stacking any of the classic damage mitigation fast enough
Sadly… Shred is fun but it’ll likely be back to Stormclaw Druid and Werenado for wolves
Assuming Grizzly Rage isn’t “shredded” (nerfed to the ground)
Which I’m actually okay with, strangely enough. Personally, I’m determined to find a way to make a decent shred build that doesn’t rely on Tempest Roar and storm abilities. Will it be as strong? Not even close, I’m sure, but as long as it does what I want and I can have fun with it, that’s all that matters.
You can certainly do that. Only handicapped, depending on your perspective, is what you can use in your ult. It’s not really a push high keys build but speed farms just fine.
another non-TR option after the nerf would be Shred+Rabies with blurred beast. It won’t reach such damage values, but if Anderiel’s Visage would finally drop it would at least be a viable build. But im Not shure that can beat Uber Lilith, poison DMG normaly does no crits so Grizzly Rage is not the main benefit.
But how do you test if it works when a helmet like this guest is nearly impossible to get.
The problem with the nerf will be that they nerf Stormclaw while also nerfing Grizzly Rage. It will basically become an unplayable skill unless they rework Blurred Beast a bit to make poison shred more consistent. The biggest problem was Stormclaw double dipping on the massive stacks of Grizzly/Dire.
And anyone that thinks Grizzly shouldnt be nerfed is in denial, its 10x better than any skill other classes have access to. But they need to compensate Druid in its base damage on all other skill…my guess is they dont realize that.
Grizzly Rage and Storm Strike both have the same problem of being too good at what they do. Both of them are so heavily loaded with utility that everything isn’t really a choice.
If they would improve other skills like Lacerate, I would love run my shred build with it. Maybe Cataclysm for a the werenado build? The issue isnt that Grizzly Rage is OP, its that the others are so lackluster, that comparing them is meaningless.
I’d love to see Lacerate be a huge AoE skill that hit ALL targets within the hit zone with each strike, and if it was a solo target, like the last remaining elite or a boss, than the damage is focused and doubled/tripled. That could make it viable instead of just being a ping-pong skill that hits like a wet noodle.
I’d take Lacerate in its current form if it had an outrageously shorter cooldown AND I could use it with Grizzly Rage.
There’s a thread in GD about gauging metrics, I would hope that the devs should be able to see which ultimates aren’t being chosen (or rarely chosen) and are planning something based on that data.
lol say that to the necros one shotting world bosses with a singel bone spear…
and the rogues ripping lillith down in one CD rotation… or the sorcs who can one shot lillith…
the weakest class in the entire game is the druid… it might be decent at speed clearing but when it comes to everything else the druid is the worst…
