What does "total additional Bone Storms you can have by +1 do?
It probably launches twice after you pick up enough blood orbs?
You get additional bone storms swirling around the battle area.
With a max roll, you can have up to 4 more on the battle field at any given time.
I got this last night and am actually running both bone storm aspects. But it means that you can have a total of up to 4 bone storms at once I believe. One extra for each minion sacrifice.
So here’s how it works to put it in very simple terms. As long as you activate bone storm, ANY form of damage you deal will have a chance to spawn a bone storm at that location (I’ve also had them spawn on top of breakable objects). You can maintain permanent uptime on this if you are speed farming. Even if bone storm drops off of you, as long as there is any active bone storms in the area, you can continue to spawn them from your damage sources. You also receive the buff from bone storm even if it’s on cooldown but you are spawning them from Lidless wall, hope this helps.
The item roll doesn’t matter for the additionalBone Storms, the Sacrifice Bonuses do. You get +1 per Sacrifice, up to +3 for a total of 4 with the 1 default.
The roll on the unique power is the percentage to create an extra Bone Storm, up to +25%. You get an additional +25% for a total of 100% if you Sacrifice all 3 minion types.
Thank you guys! I thought I will have 2 times to cast bonestorm
Just a “by the way”…
When you’re level 90something and you are running nightmare dungeon after nightmare dungeon to work on experience, it’s kind of a fun mini game to see how fast you can move through the dungeon while keeping a single cast of Bone Storm alive. It forces you to be aware enough to always try and hit an enemy not currently affected by bone storm so that you can keep the unique item requirements fresh/appeased. Things can become so tedious at this level that these sort of mini games actually make the game better. Helped me get to 100 this season!
Even a minimum roll Lidless Wall still procs all the time.
5% minimum roll Lidless Wall
75% all pets sacrificed
That’s 80% right there. If you use a wand and a ring with luck you can easily get to 100% proc.
That’s not how lucky hit works. Lucky hit is % chance to proc a lucky hit. If X spell has lucky hit it has a % chance to proc a lucky hit from that spell. It’s not additive like you’re thinking.
30% lucky hit (character stat)
55% lucky hit from bone storm
You have a 30% chance to proc a lucky hit, if you do proc a lucky hit then bone storm has a 55% chance to proc it’s own lucky hit. Though bone storm procs off it’s intial cast not it’s overall.

Even a minimum roll Lidless Wall still procs all the time.
5% minimum roll Lidless Wall
75% all pets sacrificed
That’s what I said… the roll on the unique power doesn’t really matter.
To be fair, with all three Sacrifice bonuses it takes a 25% lucky hit bonus for the 5% proc chance Lidless to break even with the 25% proc chance Lidless without lucky hit. So the underlying point is correct. Even if the numbers cited are not.
Interesting.
My Lidless Wall is crappy. It’s only a 5% one.
But with 33% lucky hit equipped it seems to proc instantly every time. It typically takes less than 3 seconds to get all 4 bone storms up. Very reliable, even though it should only be around a 6.5% chance to proc per hit.
Sometimes it actually procs a bit too fast. If all the bone storms go up instantly, it can sometimes be harder to chain them from pack-to-pack, since you can’t spawn new ones until one of the old ones expires.
Bottom line: this is a great legendary item to get for any necromancer, regardless of how low or high the roll on the item is.

I guess it depends on what skill you’re using to generate the other Bone Storms and how many targets you’re hitting (I’m assuming it goes off skill LH to proc the extra storms and not Bone Storm itself?). Even low LH proc chance can appear high if you’re rapidly hitting many mobs.
I’d emphasize, the 25% LH comment only applies with the Sacrifice bonuses in play. If you’re not using any of those you probably want a high rolled Lidless proc chance.
I’ve opted out of Lidless on my seasonal Sever/Mist setup since it doesn’t pair well with what I’ve been doing. Perhaps I wasn’t leveraging it well enough though.
I’m currently using Bone Spear with Lidless Wall. It seems to proc Lidless Wall very reliably.
That makes sense since Bspear has naturally high lucky hit… It gets all the cool toys. Lidless fits well with that build concept too.
That’s not how it works, either.
Your character stat lucky hit is a multiplier for the ability’s lucky hit chance.
For example, if you have 50% lucky hit from gear that will increase corpse explosion’s chance from 40% to 60%.
If you then take an effect with a 25% chance that’s again multiplied resulting in a 15% chance on every hit to trigger the effect.
So it looks like:
- From checking online, Bonespear’s base lucky hit multiplier is 50%.
- I have 33% bonus lucky hit gear equipped, so my chance to proc a lucky hit with Bonespear should be 1.33 * 50% = 66.5%
- My Lidless Wall rolled crappy minimum so only has a base 5% chance to proc.
- Net chance to proc on any hit should thus be 66.5% of 5 = 3.3%, which means it should proc on average once every 30 hits. At this proc rate, I should only expect reliable procs during rapid-fire on large add packs.
However, I’m not sure that’s how it’s actually working in-game. It seems to proc near 100% of the time on every cast, as long as 4 bonestorms aren’t already up. Even against single-target bosses with no adds present.
You’re probably hitting multiple targets multiple times.
