License count for couch coop

Hi there,

we’re planning to buy D4 for the xbox. The difference to D3 is, that you need to have two (Battle.net)-Accounts to play D4 with couch coop.
My question is: If I want to play with my kids or my wife with Couch Coop, do we need to buy two versions of D4 or as in the past only one?
I just found a statement regarding the public beta, but here you don’t need any license to play

Thank you very much!

Best regards,
Alex

This is actually a good question.

If on Xbox you will only need one copy of the game on the console, so effectively you will have one license. But for both users to play couch coop you will need to have an xbox live subscription with the account that owns the game, and the console will need to be set as the home console. This will allow the gold membership to be used by both profiles.
Battle.net accounts are free so no restriction there.

As for Playstation network I am unsure how their subscriptions etc work so maybe one of their users will reply also. I suspect its similar.

I have been able to play with my husband on our PS5. You do have to have a PSN account and a Bilzzard account, but only need one copy of the game on the console to play. Hope that helps anyone else.

Are you sure with the part of the live subscription? Because with the public beta, there was no need for xbox live.

Yes, the beta was allowed because it was essential marked as free play days.

Argl… damn it  that’s worse

pretty sure you are wrong about needing two subscriptions, every account you’re playing together with ON your xbox or playstation shares you psn/ps+/xbox gold/gamepass subscription while doing so.

But at least one is required, I think…
Ok, we’ll see…

Probably.
While you could play D3 offline/season-less on playstation/xbox D4s always online function will most likely need an online subscription.
But it would be the first console game needing two subscriptions for local/couch-co-op, even if it’s online. So I think/hope? it’s save to assume one is enough.

I think it’s the first game, were you need 4 Accounts (2x Xbox, 2x Battle.net) to play with 2 Players on couch-coop?.. so maybe it’s the first game with 2 subscriptions too… But hopefully not… i even hate it, that there’s a need for staying online…
But one positive thing was, that there was a message, telling me, that i can subscribe for xbox live for more features. Then i said not to subscribe and play and we could do couch coop… so… we’ll see…

For console you just need psn/live to go online. Once you have that, buy one copy of the game and each player needs a blizz account which is free

As I said in my post you only need one xbox live subscription. As long as the console is the home console for the profile with the subscription it propagates to any account on that console. Same goes for game itself.

You will need…
one copy of the game
one live account (xbox live or playstation plus depending on console)
two battlenet accounts (these are free, just sign up)

I think the same but didnt find any official info about it

It seems to be the way its going to work based off the piecing together of info I’ve seen for beta

Preordered game on main account (dad)
2 extra accounts on ps5 (mom + kid)
No PlayStation network
During the first beta weekend my mom and child were unable to play on their respective accounts unless playing with dad as one of the accounts. - this becomes super annoying because then I need to keep open character slots for my kid and wife on my account when the game is live because they can’t play together without my account being loaded in :frowning:
