Levelling is the fun part of the game

…and the fun part is too short.

With the ongoing Goblins event, there is a good opportunity to try new builds for those who have a bit of time to play. The items are crap if you are in T4 but really useful when levelling.

I did and got the level 60 pretty fast, hence my post. I found it more interesting than running the Pit or doing Boss rotations. Just saying that it should take more time. It is rewarding when there is progression.

Sure, I might level another character.

They need a mindcage for leveling that additionally reduces xp gain for you.

Yes, I agree. Leveling was always the fun part for me in these types of games. Once you’ve maxed out then there is nothing to do, unless there is a very robust end game system, which D4 is currently lacking and that limits the amount of time the game is fun.

I get the idea behind that the Devs (and some players) wants to hit max level ASAP and that is when the game starts… but as I mentioned, there is no end game beyond a few hundred Duriel runs.

Hopefully the devs manage to add in more end game systems in 2025. I think they’ve used up all the things they could take from D3… so now they need to innovate or borrow from other games, either way, we need more

They need to create a helltide-like region that spawns, but has a higher difficulty level - like pit 90-100 regions, etc. with greater rewards. Having to go into pit in order to get any kind of resistance beyond T4 is a joke, and they aren’t leveraging the open world at all.

Actually, it is not such a bad idea. Levelling used to be a lot slower. I guess most players wanted to get to the end game as fast as possible and the game evolved to please them.
There are still players who prefer taking their time, feel the progression of a character and wouldn’t mind slowing it if it was possible.

For me its not so much about leveling specifically as it is about progression.

Leveling clearly offers direct visible progression with gaining levels and new gear but for me the feeling of progression slows dramatically in early “end game” and nearly stops completely in mid “end game”.

Paragon, glyphs, and pit tiers are a start but the diminishing returns on glyphs and paragon make them feel insignificant, and the abysmal drop rates of ancestral gear in S6
means that pit progress grinds to a halt with the occasional fits and starts if/ when you happen to actually manage to get a good 2/3 GA AND temper it well AND hit your MW right without having to grind hours on end to get the obducite…

There needs to be some solution to providing a meaningful feeling of progression without power creep to maintain long term playability. OR some content that is truly fun in its own right regardless of progression (like PvP)

I had been onside for some time, defending T1 as the start of “end game”, but it still isn’t really because for long term playability endgame should be something that you can enjoy ad infinitum (or at least for the full duration of the season in this model) and most of the content currently positioned as endgame isn’t that for me, nor I’d wager for quite a lot of people.

There is no leveling in D4.
this game is grinding engine.

Maxing a character before creating a new one was one of the fun parts of the game. They have destroyed that.

For you and many others it might be.
My idea of ANY game is to level up to max as fast as possible and be done with it because the game begins at max lvl right?:joy:

I agree leveling is the best part of the game. I’d say for me it’s pretty good up to about 200 paragon, then it gets boring real quick. I’d prefer the leveling to 50 or so be slowed down but that’s not likely to happen.

One reason I think is even though they added paragon points to keep working on and higher glyph levels lt’s really no better than when we leveled to 100 because the progression there is so slow it may as well not exist.

I disagree. After having leveled several characters I have come to detest the whole process. It is a boring slog, IMO.

What I enjoy is experimenting with builds and trying out obscure combinations of gear and skills to try to make something viable that no one else is playing. I have done this, to a degree, with some success and occasionally have been playing decent builds days, weeks or months before they get discovered and become meta.

I also enjoy the campaign story and new chapters. Therefore, I find myself skipping seasonal content more and more often because I find most of them gimmicky and boring.

Having said that, the nice part of this game is that everyone can chose to play it there way and enjoy doing so.
