when people join a game, telling them the level cap is 120 150 180 is just a barrier to entry that pushes people away.
level 50 60 or 70 are great level caps. let’s you make every level matter without a rediciulous talent system giving you terrible talent points.
Well we do need to wait for more information. Id be fine with a 60/40 between skills/para but for now everything is speculation.
I do agree D3 paragon system should not make a return

Ryker was talking about this today. Now the constant XP speed ups in every season makes sense. They made leveling to 100 faster and faster so they could later do a squish down to 60. I was never a fan of 100 levels to begin with so I’m fine with this change.
How is this a barrier in any way? You just play the game.

Noone disputes the idea that levels 60-100 (or at least 70-100) were just a “filler” (for the most part) but that doesn’t make up for the fact that they didn’t know how to use the 70-100 “gap” to properly fill in content/stuff/evolution/builds
They didn’t know how to properly use the WTs for a whole year ffs, that alone is appalling to say the least
Why not make max level take a fair amount of time to hit, but provide very little value
rose by any other name would still be the same?
Lipstick on a pig?
My issue isn’t about the stat squish or just compresing things since that will just be a “cosmetic change”
However, I think it’s more than that and it’s another redesign and another major change occuring to the game foundationally.
No stability, it’s a joke at this point.
I’ll give you an opinion on it after I’ve played the changes.

It all depends on how it is done tbh. It’s always nice to know your power is not completely tied to RNG, and grinding for exp does progressively make you more powerful, regardless of how unlucky you are. But I can also see how starting late in a season and seeing players a million times more powerful than you could be daunting, and off-putting.

Not gonna be a popular opinion.
I would not care if we had 1000 levels, as long as either
- each level up felt good, and gave you some kind of meaningful progress
- the time to maximum level was no different than it is now
The actual number is only relevant to the skill tree.
They chose to have a skill tree with x many points, and doing so meant you needed to be level 50.
They allowed level 100 to gain paragon points.
It seems they may have changed away from that idea, whilst simultaneously choosing to grant us 10 more skill points for the tree, hence level 60.
The squish is likely unrelated.
They felt that damage numbers and multipliers were getting too high, and the best way to reel that in is by squishing the stats. They may very well have just changed the caps from 100 to 60 without any compression of stats, and done so separately from the stat squish.

I’m really excited about the stat squish. High damage numbers always had a big psychological impact on me, makes the game feel like a joke.

Just guessing, but suspect max level will be 60. Paragon will be pulled into a separate system with its own progression and max level.
Separation allows them to do different things to the systems without having to worry about negatively affecting the other. And allows for each system to expand.
