Leveling glyphs to 100 not possible with death penalties

love you guys.
there is a change that needs to be made which i need to bring to your attention that seriously affects Glyph leveling since the changes you made to pit difficulty in season 8.

As you all know in order to get your glyphs to level past a certian tier you need to do pits that are 10-20 levels higher than your current glyph level.
Now that the difficulty of pit tiers is much higher. It takes a group effort to complete High level pits. No one person can carry a group though upper tier pits anymore.
Thats ok but the death penalty makes it hard for everyone in the group to contribute to the fight and still make it through an upper tier pit(90-110)
Before season 8, my weaker sorc could be carried through pit 100-110 allowing me go finish leveing my glyphs.
Now i cant get them past 90 because the groups i get in cant achieve anything higher than pit 95 and i feel useless to contribute to the groups progress because i die too much and kill the pit timer and then we dont make it through the pit run.

If there was no death penalty i could jump in the fight and my damage could contribute to the groups success and it wouldnt matter if i died or not. Thus more groups could finish the upper tier pits easier if everyone in the group could contribute damage without the fear of dying and losing the whole pit run clock.

Can someone please look into this and fix this?

Is this a joke? Getting carried shouldn’t be a requirement ! if we’d need a carry to level glyphs the issue is somewhere else my friend. maybe read some of the post patch note forum posts you’ll understand what the actual issue is.

Getting carried should be made impossible.

As for deaths, you should not be able to enter the current dungeon again if the character dies.

Diablo 2 had carries like Rushes, Sanctuary Runs, and Baal Runs. Diablo 3 had carries like Nephalem Rifts, Echoing Nightmares, & Greater Rifts.

Diablo 4 has carries like the Pit, Nightmare Dungeons, and the Boss Ladder. For a Diablo game, this is very much par for the course.

Don’t worry OP they have nerfed most builds so no one can carry you and you can all suffer next season. Enjoy

Not sure if the problem you are trying to point out is that you cant grind glyph levels in a group because of death or due to needing a higher pit level to guarantee levels. But, the current season made it easier to level your glyphs to 100 solo without needing to be +10 higher pit levels… If you can get to p95 you can still level your glyphs to 100. It can just take a few more pit runs… Hope that helps!

If you don’t have enough defense to survive in the Pit, you don’t deserve level 100 glyphs.

just run additional 50 times and hope that 8% glyph chance will hit.

I guess I was just lucky. It didn’t feel as bad as that… I leveled glyphs to 100 for 5 alts using pit95-7 depending on the alt.

Fixed your post for you, but let me suggest a few counterpoints.

  • Leveling glyphs to 100 with death penalties is possible, it will just likely take longer since you have 4 tries instead of 5 (assuming you did the smart thing and activated the seasonal ash to give you 100% chance for additional glyph upgrade, which will also be featured in S9).
  • 10 pit levels higher than your glyphs gives 100% chance for upgrade (not 10-20 as you mentioned).
  • If you are being carried in high pits, it’s likely that the carry players have already upped their glyphs either to max or at least further than you, and will not likely be penalized or terribly upset if your death shaves off 1 glyph upgrade attempt.
  • Pit carrying a weaker character is something that in a more civilized time would be agreed upon by the rest of the party, or at least the party leader, beforehand. Often it’s obvious looking at the paragon levels who is likely in over their heads.
  • If you’re so weak that you are dying excessively and running out the timer, you need to stay at the entrance or back out to a lower pit. Glyphs to 100 will not necessarily solve your defensive deficits and you probably should look more into that if this is happening.

The same reason people use RMT. They want it, they want it now, and it doesn’t matter how.

Yes, my 18 months have the same issue.

Didnt read post only title. I leveled most of my glyphs to 100 on hardcore doing speed 75 boosts for friends. It can be done just extremely slow. I had a char for solo play who did 90s-95s and it was also fine just nowhere near as fast as last season.

Well, here is a novel idea. Don’t die.

First of al loosing attempts is not a big deal as you said with the addition of the seasonal ash boost. this issue is loosing time off the clock. if someone in your group is dying too much you loose too much time off the clock that is needed for the boss attempt at the end which makes the whole pit run worthless if you run out of time killing the boss at the end. I have been in groups pit 100 where we made it all the way to the end boss just fine but then people died fighting the boss too many times and the clock dropped to zero and while we still killed the boss we got no upgrade totem because of the death penalties. everyone at that pit tier needs to be able to contribute to the fight without killing the time off the clock!!

Just get harlequins crest or shako, whatever the name is these days.

I take like 0 damage when using it and can clear pit 100’s easy.

All my glyphs are currently 98

Or, realise Rifts are weak, outdated, hamsterwheel content that should never have been added to the game and there is no reason to level Glyphs in this game at all.
