Tried something new creating a fire sorc…dang it feels like a chore. You guys feeling the same thing with your Sorc or is it because generally a fire Sorc sucks hehe?
Started with fire sorc, and abandoned it in favor of Lightning Arc-lash sorc.
The latter is by far more smooth , and i’m leveling pretty fast. Having a blast in the blood harvest.
Started as a Spark-Chain Lightning-Crackling Energy sorc and loving it. Level 47 and blasting. Love the Blood Harvests for xp and loot. WT3 soon!
S2 or Eternal?
Leveling with my Hydra, Fireball and / or with Firewall or Inferno so far feels good. I am level 78 now and not even rushing. Just casually testing each content and challenges.
Really? I’ve been using fireball and Hydra through 40 levels and I find it a slog. I literally can throw 3 fireballs before out of mana; I find I need the damage from Hydra to get through more difficult st monsters. Then you mix in fire bolt to Regen your mana. Utilizing inferno for unlimited fireballs is decent.
It’s not hard per SE, just feels like a massive grind that my shards sorc didn’t feel like. It’s especially weak against bosses as well. S2
I use Fireball as an enchantment 90% of the time and Hydras as my main damage source. As an enchantment, you can clear mobs really quick with Fireball and being an enchantment instead of a skill on your bar, it means no mana issues.
Early game, like the first 15 levels, I use Firebolt as my main skill and Fireball as a support skill. Then I dropped it in favor of Hydra and Fireball setup above. Now at level 79 I always have a surplus of mana because Hydra itself doesn’t consume a lot of mana plus I have Prodigy. I switched to Blizzard as my mana dump. I also did it with Firewall but since I run with that aspect that improves survivability with Blizzard, Blizzard was a no brainer choice.
IMO fireball is only good with the unique gloves that make it bounce plus using the enchantment. You can get good chain reactions of explosions in mobs.
I went spark/chain light till about 47 then got all the aspects and codex i need and swapped to arc/ball light/unstable
i may have died … 5 times? though i had a few issues till i got the aspects and codexs i got to 50 pretty quick even if im casual lol
about to solo capstone for t3 after this vid i watch… should be fun
Fire sorcerer has a good rate of survival. Just rememeber to use the right pasives.
Despite fire surge is still not fixed and incinerate damage still sucks, This S2 one feels better and plays better
I just watched a video on the arc lash/ball/unstable build yesterday and just so happened to also get the orbiting ball aspect yesterday too. What other gear/aspects did you accumulate before switching builds? I am level 47 now with spark/CL/unstable but this ball lightning build looks interesting!
I leveled firewall until WT3 then switched to ball lightning. It’s night and day. Arc Lash is also very strong and I’m sure the standard cold builds are also good.
Fire is still weak, or at least it doesn’t come online until your gear is better optimized.
For ball lightning, you just need the gravitational aspect and you’re rolling. Arc lash only needs codex powers and you’re melting.
If you want an easy time or sorc this season, go lightning,
Yep. Fire Sorc isn’t broken and strong like Ball of Lightning. It’s still better than S1 but not broken.
And also yes, Ball of Lightning and not just any lighting build is the way to go if you want an easy time. I would try it but I am invested in my Fire Hydra Sorc.
at 48 i had everything in the vids but that teleport wormhole aspect still hunting for it
though i went full bulldog in T3 i had like 57 or so of those blood keys… lol just ran around collecting sacred yellow and legs ive to tabs full right now and still going … getting all the aspects i could ever want and the gear to upgrade for t4 lol
not my fault they did that they should have had the keys only work on the diff level ya got them on
other than that… enjoy the balls nerf is coming Northwar found they added 3000% on something instead of 300% what ever that was. but still it will melt everything
any one know if lighting in d4 works like d2 in the damage range? like 1 - xxx or 1 - xxxx or is the range tighter?
So it wasn’t just because of the Vampiric stuff? If it’s really just the Vampire powers, we should see it’s effect on most, if not all builds, like how we saw it with Barber.
I get it that Seasons are supposed to make you more powerful, but is it expected to be OP soloing World Boss and beating Duriel solo at level 70s with subpar gear?
Not really. Enchanted Ball Lightning gets you a massive dmg bonus based on your attack speed and some of the vampiric powers let you multiply stuff on top of each other which ofc. doesn’t happen for other classes / sorc builds.
I would say yes. Most classes in S1 could kill uber Lilith in less than 1 min, S1 sorc was more of an outlier in that regard (and in general which it mostly still is).
Also, the devs have been very clear about this. They said in no uncertain terms that they wanted to see the players to use the seasonal mechanics to “come up with overpowered builds that break the game” and not just to “make them more powerful”. Balance vs. the content was obviously not the point of their design philosophy and in that regard they work exactly as advertised.
Well that’s the thing I don’t get about Sorcs. Why is it the outlier? Rhetorical question btw. I can’t blame folks for comparing Sorcs with other classes.
Bro…come on why do they have to spoon feed these answers to you, balance wise sorcerer wasnt up there with the other classes so it just took longer to down lilith.
Spoon fed what? What balance? Does that even exist or you mean balance as in everyone has to be broken or has one broken build? When I hear the word balance, being OP isn’t the thing that comes to my mind. I think of Eternal instead.
I tested Fiery Surge, it does actually work now. Took them until S2 to fix it.
Just slot firewall and fireball as enchant slot and you can easily level to 100 farming helltide/blood harvest and general tasks playing.
The quicker you can get an ancestral staff/1h+focus you can farm t4 easily.
I reccomend using both shields, ice shield and flame shield. Then use unstoppable aspect for ice shield. Gives you 2 panic buttons. Get 1 point in resetting a defensive cooldown per 10 seconds so either of them reset. The buff to ice shield aspect armor bonus is huge, 10% to 30%. So with disobedience and that your armor gets very high. I could face take t4 before i could kill anything.
You can run anything on your bars. With those things its easy to farm.
I played firewall sorc both seasons leveling and swapped to chainlightning/4 hydra/oculus spam spec after lvl 75 for nm pushing.
Pure fire builds are terrible. I respect the people who handicap themselves to do it but blizzard has 0 direction for that playstyle.
