Level requirements on items

This needs to go. I have a main character (rogue level 90). Now after leveling a alt (barb to level 61)… I can state for a fact that leveling a alt in this game feels plain bad. Mainly Due to the fact that the player could have a stash full of items that they have invested their time into farming on their main character. But can’t use on other characters due to level requirements.

If a item is Ancestral it should have a level requirement of 60, end of story. Not 70, not 75, not 90 not 100. But 60 because it is a Ancestral item and level 60 is the requirement for equipping ancestrals.

Leveling multiple characters in this game in its current state is way too grindy and resource intensive. And if seasons are going to wipe the slate clean every three months, what is the need for making this exactly? just let players use the items they have invested their time into farming on other characters without a superficial timegate.

another braindead decision from the d4 people

in D2 you’d put good uniques on lvl 1 to have fun when leveling

now no matter what you find at 100, it’s level 100? even though most stuff isn’t even tradeable? whats the point again

Yeah, i dont understand the level requirement either. No point, i can get just as good ilvl gear on any character that steps into t4.

Leveling alts in d4 is one of the most horrid gaming experiences I’ve ever encountered in decades of gaming because of this utmost ridiculous design choice of the dev team.

Lol, not true at all. All items in D2 have level requirements. Most annoyingly were the crappy low level sets where you had a few w/ low level requirements (20 or under at most) and always another which put the complete set out of use for leveling.

To the OP, part if it is the stash limitation. But, the other is not saving a some mid level gear that’s not class specific for your alts. Even some off class specific yellow will drop, if it looks good you could save it. You could then throw on an aspect (assuming your main has clear most of the dungeons).

As an example 3 spots for a weapon 1 for 30s another for 40s and another for 50s would do, by then your alt should have enough gear. Tbh, I’d think something for the 40 through 50s levels would do. But, I think you get where I’m going.’

Edit: Also, you’ll get renown boosts, and statue boosts. If you wait for the season you’ll get the renown and xp boosts (though not the gear which you don’t have anyway).

as a matter of fact, it is true…

most unique items in D2 were very low level requirement

soj, frostburns, magefist, bonesmasher, etc

You said no level requirement. Also, you’re playing loose

Quick trip to Arrett summit shows exceptional uniques lvl requirements very 20-40s. The Elite Uniques lvl requirements very 60s-80s.

(Also, you’re not counting if they’re upgraded which increased both the level and skills requirements which you’ve left out/forgotten. The skill requirements were a soft level requirement in many cases. )

My personal favorite “low level” was BoneSnap w/level req of 24 and req str of 69), but keep in mind if not rushed the alt won’t hit 24 until Act4-5 range of normal.

lol i could get a level 1 to 70 in 1 day of D2, without even plvling

don’t act like you can do anything remotely similar in D4, everythings locked to level 100 and of the same class

They probably want you to level “normally” and not skip the best (and kinda almost) part of the game where you level and are happy to find drops and don’t press 1 button and destroy.

Lvl 60 equip for ilvl 820 items is way too low. But yes they do need to have it based on … something else and to stop at 85 cap.

lol level normally… why not let level 1s go into world tier 4 instantly with sick gear from your main

gotta do some dumb quest over

Yeah in D3 you can have a crazy op primal ancient at level 1. It sucks you can’t even have a reduced level requirement for items in this game. In fact, atm with the altar of rites you can aquire a node to set all items to a level 1 requirement which is awesome!

Item level requirements need to scale with item power up to a point. Right now they’re just arbitrary and get in the way of fun.

If small stash is preventing us from enjoying gear and alts, sounds like an easy fix to me…INCREASE STASH SIZE.

Good lord the smoothbrains are out in full force lately

you have to pay $10 for more stash space sorry

I’ve never said that stash wasn’t part of the problem. Tbh, Idk why they didn’t use the D2R system (3 shared tabs and 1 unique per character). W/the 10 character limit, iirc, that’s 10+3 stash slots which seems reasonable.

That said I also know the current situation and save 1/2 dozen or so slots for potential alt gear. Alts are also boosted by renowns and Alter sp. So really shouldn’t be a grind like the main was.

There’s as much truth to this as you’re moving bar of:

all my quotes are true… whats your point?

anyone who played D2 know making alts and leveling them was easy due to putting uniques on them

and you’d have farmed all the normal nightmare uniques etc. on your main (lower level requirements)

good job using quote boxes though, really impressive argument

Let’s start w/the 1st one, name 1 level 1 requirement unique you actually bothered to use.

you must not have good reading ability

putting items on a level 1 doesn’t mean the items were level requirement 1

You can’t put an item on if you don’t meet the item level requirements. Still waiting on a unique you can actually equip at level 1 in D2 …
