Level grind needs some variation

Can we get some balance and differing “content” to break up the tediousness of level grinding? Why does it have to take soooo long to get to 100? And seriously, who the hell wants to spam NM dungeons like it’s the only thing to do… oh wait… the amount of exp for doing things needs to be adjusted. Aslo, if 100 was the intended cap for endgame, why can’t we do all the content at 100? Are you going to add more WTs amd allow more paragon points, like with D3? a few weeks into the first season, after already grinding out 1 lvl 100 pre season and 'm bored.

I just hit 98 today and have been testing all
The endgame methods for levelling in the process to see how long it takes me to gain a paragon point. These final levels take me anywhere between 45-60 minutes to gain a single paragon level. A lot of that is travelling and dealing with inventory.

When I do dungeons I open all chests and complete all events plus pick up all yellow or better equipment. This sometimes means a town portal mid dungeon to empty the inventory. I realize this isn’t the most eye at to farm experience, but we also need gold and mats for upgrades. We barely upgraded gear at a certain point, but I still look at all of it because until I fully min/max my gear I need to make sure I’m missing something better. Because of that NMD’s take me
Roughly 45 minutes to gain a single paragon point.

Tree of whispers has a few concentrated areas where you can pick up 10 favors in roughly 15 minutes. If you turn in 3 completed whispers to the tree at this high level you get nearly one paragon point, so you may have to crush out a few others to get there. With travel time and varied activities required to get 30 or more total favors it takes me roughly 50-55 mini total to gain a single paragon level.

Helltides is blasting enemies and opening chests from start to finish. I fight every elite and boss type enemy I encounter including the roaming boss that takes some effort to kill. I’ve been getting multiple legendary drops plus rare drops and a fair amount of cinders form this at my level so I keep doing it. I use my same gear gathering philosophy here as I do with NMD’s and pick up every yellow, this means a few extra trips to town, but I have now trouble getting 4+ mystery chests as long as the event doesn’t start at a quarter to the hour or on the hour. This last helltide with the new mob density took my just under an hour to gain a single paragon point and I took a few minutes break halfway through.

That’s your three main endgame activities and from my experience there isn’t much difference in time between them to gain levels. But you can double dip somewhat with whispers that overlap with helltides and with NMD’s that overlap with whispers.

You could also mix things up a bit yourself and move freely between the activities if one is getting too stale. This is what I was doing often. 2-3 NMD’s followed by a complete whisper set of 10 and then catch a piece of or a complete helltide before evaluating my next cycle of the three activities. If I have 4 whisper favors left I would do those and back to NMD or just go straight back to NMD for a bit.

Just keep in mind, because a guide says something is the most efficient does not mean it is the most fun.

Are you renting the game?

Is it due back in a couple of days?

If not then try some of the other characters or seasonal stuff or play something different.

It’s only grindy if you grind.

It’s not about the grind, it’s about the tediousness of it in this game currently. I have played many RPGs that have a constant grind but there is generally a large variety of ways to do so, and many other options to “take a break”

Switching from one class to another does not take away from the tediousness of leveling. As for “try the seasonal stuff” that took like 30 minutes to clear… but thanks for your “input”

Well to be fair I agree they kind of blew it with the “End Game” for D4.

You’re locked into a build that you’re then forced to play for hours if not days. In D3 you could re-spec and try something a little different but here you’re just stuck doing the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.
