Why is there an elite affix that is so taxing and hateful toward necromancer while other elite mods are seemingly nowhere near as injuring for other classes.
Moreover - this is the MOST common elite mod I come across while I play. If you get this mod mixed Shadow Enchanted, good luck doing anything.
Again - the amount of hatred this type of elite affix seems to provide toward the necromancer class is infuriating. Sometimes I literally leave a nightmare dungeon 5 minutes in because I just don’t want the headache of dealing with it.
This nothing new form people on the forums, but I would feel completely fine if this affix was completely removed from the game. At the very least increasing it’s radius would solve so many issues for Necromancer as minion pathing is not smart enough in comparison to the enemy AI (it would seem). Moreover, it would fix range issues with being able to bone prison and stay out of range of the other mechanics you’ll have to dodge (whether terrify, fire enchanted etc…)
Moral of the story - Suppression feels terrible. For a class with no mobility - this seems like a vast oversight with how necromancer interacts with this affix.
Edit - Forgot to mention how a majority of bone spears damage comes from the shrapnel you get after the initial cast, but good luck ever having that happen unless you find a way in a sea of enemies to pin the elite mob close enough to a wall where the suppression field won’t just say no to all of it. Again, suppression just feels bad.
Strangely enough as a necro I’ve not seen this elite type. I mean with my current build that focuses heavily on doing shadow damage I would think this elite would be the bane of my existence. Yet most elites I’ve come across in tier 3 melt quite easily to me.
Is it a tier 4 affix? Would be understandible if it were, much like d3 higher tiers once you’re on max difficulty yes the training wheels come off and nothing is easy.
wasnt a gripe LOL it was an example about how something is the bane of my existence yet i didnt make a whine thread about it demanding it to be revised in some fashion.
why is everyone so much less intelligent than me. ugh
Not sure if it is local to World Tier 4. If I remember correctly I saw suppression in world tier 3 as well, but I could be mistaken.
I am completely aware of the difficulty of higher tiered content and its intent to the gameplay. I appreciate and welcome a challenge. The criticisms stated in the original post cause a massive influx for a specific class that others do not experience. I meant to make light of this in hopes to alleviate some of that pressure. Or heck, make the game more difficult for other classes and add some mods as equally unplayable for other classes (I welcome the latter if you are curious, but I know others wouldn’t, most likely Mr. Donut fly man in this thread).
In all honesty I think the most reasonable course of action is just increasing the radius of suppression. It would solve a lot of ranging issues (for like bone spear) and the AI for the necromancer’s minions.
For reference yes I can breeze through all content (doing 1.5 mill bone spears occasionally) but suppression is a serious check for me because of the previously stated issues.
No it’s not game breaking, but it’s simply about balancing the mechanic for other classes or builds. No intention of whining about this game as some might say.
I get excited when i see chilling wind. It slows projectiles and i have the leg power that makes bone spear drop echoes that explode. So they hit the chill, barely move, and create non stop explosions. The suppression however is a nightmare.
Here’s the difference: flies are an annoyance, and suppressors completely and utterly stop my highest DPS minions from doing anything. There is no counter-play, because you cannot control minions.
There are many cases in D4 currently where not having control of minions is a detriment, usually regarding challenges where you need to focus-fire something, or when there’s an immune mob who your pets keep hitting.
I sincerely hope they do the PoE or GD approach and give us some way to at least move them.
mobs that do not attack me are not an “annoyance”. most of my damage is from thorns. if i dont get hit, i dont kill anything. im in the same boat. theres other mobs that drop dots also, no thorns proc there
everyone has a counter. play around it or avoid the mob/dungeon if the have those affixes. if i see a dungeon that has those stupid mobs i hate in it i just leave and make a new key
the other option is group play.
all this crying and whining always ends up the same way with a boring garbage easy game that isnt fun. example: diablo 3
sounds like you have an almost part as well, the minions. you can also stand inside their bubble and kill them; and before “oh but ill die” use a defensive, drop damage, run out
in WT4 they are very common, you can also get Suppressors as NM affix at which point every elite in dungeon will have it. If it is combined with Resource burn affix and you are playing any range class then I recommend salvaging that sigil
